FALA DID IT AGAIN: 2026 Legislative Session!

FALA was the only association to take action on SB 1404/HB 1295 to protect assisted living communities, ensuring that facilities are not unfairly required to hold a memory care license unless they provide those services.

A huge thank you to our members who answered the call to action and to our lobbyists, Liberty Partners of Tallahassee, LLC, for their tireless work advocating on behalf of ALFs across the state.

Each Wednesday, we’ll be sharing an important tip to help providers stay informed, compliant, and prepared. This week’s tip focuses on Spring Safety and Sanitation!

Spring is a great time to refresh your community while reducing hazards. Remove clutter in common areas to prevent trips and falls, sanitize high-touch surfaces like handrails and doorknobs with hospital-grade disinfectants, and prepare outdoor spaces by testing sprinkler zones and clearing walkways so residents can safely enjoy time outside. 🌼💙

The Education Committee will review proposals in March to select speakers for the 2026 Conference & Tradeshow. This year there will be a separate form for breakout session speakers versus keynote speakers to avoid confusion. We invite each of you to submit your topic for consideration.

Each Wednesday, we’ll be sharing an important tip to help providers stay informed, compliant, and prepared. This week’s tip focuses on Preventative Maintenance & Resident Wellness!

Operating an assisted living community in Florida during March requires a strong focus on preventative maintenance and resident wellness as the state transitions into warmer weather and higher seasonal occupancy. Be sure to prioritize HVAC and cooling system maintenance, including scheduling a professional inspection and completing all compliance checks. Replace filters and clean coils to ensure systems run efficiently and reliably throughout the season.
