Today, we celebrate Mexica New Year, One Rabbit. It is a year of beginning, of planting seeds of creativity and artistry. Today has been epic, though I've rested. The signs have been clear that much change is afoot. I know that great beauty is coming, though like the birth of a child, great pain may come first. I wish each of you a tremendous becoming. May flowers grow where each foot steps. 🙏🌸🐰

Presenting "How Music Gives Meaning to Life" at the University of Fine Arts in Jilotepec, Mexico was certainly not on my loteria card. 😲🃏
Especially considering I don't speak Español.
The response from the students touched me deeply. They let me know that I truly inspired them and found strength and beauty in my words and playing. With a harmonica, ocarina and ceramic flute, I put my spirit fully in the air and in their hearts. 🪈🎶❤️‍🔥
Dancers even got up and danced traditional steps with me as I played 🥹💃🕺
To the people of Mexico-- Thank you, I am honored by the magic you present me ✨️🙇‍♂️

I am everyday people (RIP Sly Stone) and I have had the great fortune to meet extraordinary people. 🍀
This is Doña Queta, a powerful Curandera from Oaxaca, Mexico.
She has overcome a lifetime of adversity to become an inspiration for me and many others. 🙏
She has delivered thousands of babies as a traditional midwife, never losing a single mother to the trials of child birth.
She is a master of herbalism, temezcal, limpias and many other methods of healing.
We do not speak the same verbal language, but we connect through corazon ❤️‍🔥
I was in her country for 3 weeks and was treated with grace, kindness, compassion, respect and love each and every moment of everyday. 🇲🇽
People went well out of their way to work to understand what I was attempting to communicate in my non-existent español. 🫂
You better believe I will be at the Florida Capitol Building tomorrow to stand-up for the people in this country who speak Spanish as they pick our produce, build our houses, cook our food and make our country better.
If Mexico will embrace a gr**go like me with more grace than I deserve, I will certainly embrace Mexicans, El Salvadoreans, Venezuelans, blacks, browns, reds, yellows, greens, purples and rainbows with all the respect I have. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏼✊️🏳️‍🌈
This country is a melting pot, and I'm voting for the molé con tortillas! 🍲
