We want to give a special thank you to Capital Medical Society for delivering Meals on Wheels routes in February! CMS members spent their Presidents Day delivering hot meals to seniors at home. They even brought children along, turning a school holiday into a day of service and kindness. Your generosity keeps our community strong and we’re so grateful for you!

Join Our Volunteer Community! Garden Volunteers Needed!

Do you love being outdoors and giving back? Elder Care Services is looking for garden volunteers to help support our community garden and stock the food pantry with fresh, healthy veggies!

How You Can Help:
• Water and w**d the garden
• Harvest fresh produce
• Assist with general planter upkeep
• Make a meaningful impact in the lives of local seniors

Time Commitment:
• Approximately 4 hours/month during the off season
• 10–15 hours/month during planting and harvesting season

Volunteer Opportunities:
• Lead Volunteer (Age 55+) needed
• All ages welcome for non-lead roles

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, enjoy the outdoors, and help nourish our community. 💚

Route Heroes!

Our incredible Meals on Wheels volunteers are the friendly faces delivering more than just meals they bring care, connection, and compassion to seniors across our community.

Starting tomorrow we’ll be asking our Route Heroes to snap and sign a Polaroid photo so we can honor them on a special wall display at Elder Care Services. It’s a small way to celebrate the big impact they make every single day

Join us for the Navigating the Senior Network Expo on Monday, March 2 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Senior Center Auditorium! This informative event brings together local aging services and community resources to help seniors and families better understand and navigate available support.

We’re proud to share that our CEO, Josie Fliger, will be serving as a panelist alongside other community leaders, providing practical guidance and valuable insight into the aging network here in the Big Bend. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, learn, and take home helpful tools for you and your loved ones!

What an incredible day at our inaugural Paddles for Purpose Pickleball Tournament!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our amazing players who brought the energy, sportsmanship, and heart to the courts. Your participation made this first tournament unforgettable and impactful for the seniors we serve in the Big Bend community.

We are also deeply grateful to our generous sponsors and partners: Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, VITAS Healthcare, Big Bend Hospice, Express, Play It Again Sports, Dick's Sporting Goods, and 850 Wild Thing Concessions for helping us serve up purpose both on and off the court.

This is what intergenerational volunteerism looks like. 💙

We are so grateful to Austin from the Fsu Pickleball Club for helping facilitate our 1st Annual Paddles for Purpose Pickleball Tournament. We’re also thankful for Peter, who was visiting from South Carolina for his wife’s art exhibition and generously spent his time helping make the tournament a success.

Moments like these remind us that community, service, and purpose truly have no age limit—on and off the court. 🏓
