Not everyone needs an MRI before starting physical therapy 👀
A lot of people hesitate to begin PT because they don’t have imaging yet—but here’s the reality: MRIs tell you what is there, not always why it hurts.
For example, studies show that in people with no pain at all, about 87% (ages 20–70) still had disc bulges. That means a majority of people are walking around with findings on an MRI and feel completely fine.
The tricky part? Things like disc bulges often develop over time. The only way to prove something specifically caused an injury would be to have an MRI before and immediately after… which almost never happens.
In PT, we don’t treat your MRI—we treat you. Your movement, your symptoms, and your function matter more than what shows up on a scan.
Now, there are times when imaging is important—like if there’s concern for something non-musculoskeletal (fracture, tumor, etc.). But for most everyday aches and pains, PT is a great place to start 👍

Foam rolling series continues 🔥 today we’re hitting calves + IT band
Calves:
Sit with one calf on the roller and slowly rock side to side or move up and down. Want more pressure? Stack your other leg on top. Tight calves can play a role in ankle mobility, knee pain, and more—so don’t skip these.
IT Band:
Lie on the outside of your leg with the roller under you, top leg planted in front for support, and come down onto your elbow. Use your arm and grounded leg to control the movement as you roll from your hip down to just above your knee. For more intensity, pause on a tight spot and bend/straighten your knee.
Stay consistent, move with control, and breathe through it 💪

“To squat or not to squat?” 🤔

It’s a question we hear all the time—and in our latest BoyzofBASE video, Kai and Tom break it down.

Too often, people are told not to squat because of pain… but the truth is, it’s usually not the squat itself—it’s how you’re squatting.

Poor mechanics, compensation patterns, and even our chair-heavy lifestyle have taken away our ability to move the way our bodies were designed to.

💡 In this video, we cover:
• Why squatting isn’t the enemy
• Common mistakes in squat mechanics
• How modern habits limit our mobility
• Why fixing your form is key to squatting pain-free
• The importance of gradual progression, because if you don’t use it, you lose it

Unlock Your Upper Back 🔓

If you’re spending hours at a desk, looking down at your phone, or just living day-to-day life… chances are your upper back is feeling it.

Today we’re diving into two of our go-to foam rolling spots:
✔️ Thoracic Spine (T-spine)
✔️ Lat / Serratus

These are areas we address with a majority of our patients walking through the door—and for good reason.

When your T-spine gets stiff and immobile, it can lead to poor posture, limited movement, and even pain in your neck and shoulders. Pair that with tight lats and serratus, and your body starts to feel “closed off.”

💥 That’s where the foam roller comes in.
It helps:
• Improve mobility
• Release built-up tension
• Open up your posture
• Get you moving the way you’re supposed to

This is just the beginning—over the next few weeks, we’ll be breaking down more key areas and showing you exactly how to roll them out effectively.

Save this for later, give it a try, and let us know how it feels 🙌

Meet one of the simplest tools with some of the biggest impacts: the foam roller.

Think of it as a way to give your muscles a deep tissue massage, anytime, anywhere. Foam rolling helps reduce tightness, improve mobility, increase blood flow, and keep your body moving the way it’s designed to.

Whether you’re dealing with soreness, recovering from a workout, or just trying to move better day-to-day, this is a tool you don’t want to overlook.

We are going to be breaking it all down. We will show you exactly how to use a foam roller, which muscles to target, and how to make it part of your routine.

Because what you do between sessions matters.

Stay tuned. 👀
