Joseph Daniel Korshalla, 89, a resident of Weatherly, PA, passed away on the morning of December 9, 2025.

Born April 12, 1936 to Joseph Daniel Korshalla and Anna (Petroski) Korshalla, of Larksville, PA, he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Kings College, Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1958, and a Master of Science in microbiology from St. John's University, Jamaica, NY in 1960. He was a microbiologist for Lederle Laboratories, American Cyanamid, and Pfizer in Pearl River, New York, with his work centering on the research, development, and creation of novel antibiotic compounds and their scale-up for industrial manufacturing.

In his free time, Joseph was a skilled and enthusiastic fly-fisherman who crafted his own flies and frequented many freshwater streams in the Catskills and Pocono regions of New York and Pennsylvania. He also was an avid gardener and watercolor painter whose drawings and paintings hung in the home of family and friends. Later in life, he took part in charitable endeavors, helping to drive elderly and disabled persons to medical appointments.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, by his loving wife, Jean Hayes Korshalla, and by his sister, Mary Danielle Korshalla.

He is survived by his daughter, Lauren E. Korshalla, a resident of Houston, TX, and his sister Anne (Korshalla) King and her husband Bernard King, both residents of Dallas, PA.

The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Weatherly for their compassionate care and to family friend Steve Holly and his wife Tina.
