The USF Health Morsani College of Medicine has secured a four-year $5.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to launch a critical study exploring the connection between Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) and heart disease.

Led by Dr. Thomas McDonald as the principal investigator, this initiative brings together researchers from various fields, including cardiology, genetics, neurology, and molecular pharmacology.
