Why do you have to continually work on your joint health & mobility?⁣

Because without actively working on it, it gets worse with time. Thanks to entropy.🤷‍♂️⁣

What the heck is entropy?!🤯⁣

Entropy is a measure of disorder. And in life, there's a tendency for entropy to increase with time. This means that things become more disordered, things degrade, and things get worse with time.⁣

But we can combat entropy.🎉⁣

We can actively work to maintain (or improve) our joint health & mobility despite entropy.⁣

It just takes constant effort and energy.💪⁣

1️⃣Swipe through the posts to learn more about entropy.⁣

Joint pre-requisities.⁣

Before pressing overhead, you should know if you have full active mobility overhead.⁣

If you don't have it, something else will take up the slack.⁣

In this example, it's the lower back.⁣

This is how a lack of active shoulder flexion mobility can show up as a lower back problem.⁣

The solution?⁣

1. If you don't have full active shoulder flexion, don't train directly overhead.⁣

2. Find a way to continue training overhead, but within the ROM you have control of (e.g. landmine press).⁣

3. Fix your crappy shoulder mobility.⁣

4. Return to pressing overhead intelligently once shoulder mobility is regained.⁣

This is why all great coaches and clinicians assess their clients and patients before creating programs for them...⁣

So we know what exercises the person in from of us is prepared for and to program accordingly. And to simultaneously improve their joint mobility limitations. @ Tampa, Florida

Movement Upgraded

Movement Upgraded was created by Dr. Ryan Hosler and Dr. Jen Hosler, a husband-wife power couple out of their frustration and dissatisfaction with the current healthcare approach to musculoskeletal conditions.

We have spent countless hours studying human movement and exercise so we can provide our patients and clients with the best care they deserve.
