Tachycardia is a heart that beats too fast. Bradycardia is at the opposite end of the spectrum: a heart that beats too slowly. 🫀
When the heart is not maintaining an even pace, that’s where a pacemaker comes in. It’s a small device that’s placed under the skin, usually just below the collarbone, with thin leads that connect to the heart. It monitors your heartbeat and delivers gentle electrical signals only when needed, keeping your rhythm steady.
A tiny device with a big job. Keep a look out for part 2: leadless pacemakers.
