The moment it hit me that being a mother is a verb was one day after a Perinatal Loss support group meeting. The mom I was talking to had a 12-week miscarriage. She was struggling with the identity, "I am a mom." Her daughter had passed away. She had never held her. Never combed her hair. Never gave her a bath. But she loved her so deeply. She felt a deep ache. She had wanted everything for her little girl. She had eaten differently, prioritized sleep, took her vitamins, and followed all of the advice the OB had made. And, here she stood in a Perinatal Loss support group grieving the loss of her one and only pregnancy. She is such a good mother. She loved and sacrificed and did everything she could everyday for the wellbeing of her unborn daughter.

"Mother is a verb. It's something you do. Not just who you are." You mother all the time. Tell me below - have you ever thought of mothering as a verb?

So glad we are in motherhood together!

This is your reminder ~ slow down and rest. Moms need a work-rest rhythm to stay energized, happy and calm!

I had an expectation of how it would be when I became a mom. I am the oldest of 4 and had been around kids all of my life.

Whew, I was really wrong!?! 😁 My intuition wasn't there as much as I had expected. My baby cried. I argued with my husband about what we should do.

I stopped asking for help. I told myself that I "should" know what to do.

My baby kept crying. And crying and crying.

And I didn't get any sleep. And I worried more and more. And I believed I was a complete failure.

When the Pediatrician sent us to a specialist Allergist, they explained that my breastmilk had dairy in it and that was causing a severe reaction in my son. We came home with the epi pen and I stopped eating all dairy.

I wasn't a bad mom. My son wasn't a terrible baby. I needed to adjust. I needed to be flexible (not something I am good at) and make major changes.

Rigid expectations lead to stress.

Have you ever dug in and set an expectation that you could handle it all?? Tell me in the comments!

Every morning, I start my day with a devotional from my YouVersion bible app. I love how the words inspire my day and set my heart on the right path. ❤

"Through faith and trust in God, we can find a deep and lasting rest for our souls." Why did this simple message hit me? I felt hope! It's like getting the recipe to my favorite cookies. That's it - that's the answer to what I want - I want lots of REST!

And not just temporary rest. Not the kind of cat-nap rest that fills my tank for just one hour.

I know that I cannot rely only on my strength and wisdom. I need to shed the doubts!! I need to quiet the inner voice that pushes me to MORE, MORE, MORE.

I want a deep and lasting rest for my soul. The solution - I need to turn my thoughts back to God and trusting in His ways, His plans and His love.

Put an AMEN in the comments if you agree! 🙏

Rest is NOT a luxury.
Rest is a part of how you function and stay well.

If anxiety, worry, or overwhelm has been weighing on you in motherhood, you don’t have to carry it alone. Support is here when you’re ready.

I understand that there is always something that needs you.

Over time, being in that constant “go-mode” can leave you feeling overwhelmed, and drained.

But here’s something many moms don’t hear enough:
Rest doesn’t have to be long to be meaningful.
*A few quiet minutes
*A slow breath
*Sitting in stillness
*Stepping outside with your coffee

These are small moments, that play a huge role in helping your nervous system reset.

I just posted a blog about the Work-Rest Rhythm for Moms and Pregnant Moms ~ check it out today on my website. I am sharing some tips to get started on your own rhythm and find your tranquility!

Each chapter of your life has various seasons. Some are full of joy. Others are gut-wrenching. Others drag on! Yet, each time, as I look back, I can see how I grew, changed and became wiser!

🌺 If you wish you were in a different season of life right now, remember, this is shaping you to be the best version of yourself.

You've got this! 🫶

Tell me below - what season would you describe being in right now?
🌿Full of Joy
🌿Really tough
🌿Exhausting
🌿Lots of learning
