🚨 Not an April Fools’ joke…

Yesterday, CMS released the Request for Applications (RFA) for the Long-term Enhanced ACO Design (LEAD) Model — a new 10-year initiative aimed at expanding and strengthening accountable care participation across the healthcare ecosystem.

What’s notable:
This goes beyond incremental change. LEAD is designed to make value-based care more accessible and sustainable — especially for small, independent, rural providers and those serving complex patient populations.

Key elements to watch:
• More stable, population-based payment structures
• Improved benchmarking for both new and existing ACOs
• Flexibility to support prevention and health-focused care models
• Better alignment for high-needs and dually eligible populations
• Expanded opportunities for specialist integration

Why it matters:
CMS is continuing to move the market toward long-term, coordinated care models — where success depends on the ability to connect data, manage risk, and support patients across the full continuum of care.

📅 Applications due: May 17, 2026

Today is and it is worth pausing for a moment.

Because behind every data point, every quality measure, every risk score there is a physician making decisions that matter.

At AaNeel USA , we spend a lot of time focused on systems, interoperability, and performance. But none of it works without the clinicians at the center of it all.

Doctors are navigating
• Increasing administrative burden
• More complex patient populations
• Constant regulatory change

And still showing up every single day.

The goal is simple. Make it easier for them to do what they do best.

Today is about recognizing the physicians driving care forward in an increasingly complex system.

CMS is phasing out fax machines and snail mail.

Let that sink in. 📠➡️💻

This isn’t just modernization.
It’s a hard shift to digital-first healthcare infrastructure.

CMS is signaling clearly:
• APIs over paper
• Real-time data over delays
• Interoperability over fragmentation

And they’re projecting $781M in annual savings.

But the real impact?

👉 Organizations still relying on manual workflows will fall behind fast.

If your systems can’t:
• Exchange data electronically
• Support prior auth digitally
• Integrate across platforms

You’re not just inefficient. You’re non-compliant with where the market is going.

This is the end of “we’ll get there eventually.”

Healthcare is expected to be digital now. ⚡

We’ve been home about a week from HIMSS and have had some time to step back and reflect on what really stood out.

There was a lot of conversation around AI, interoperability, and what’s next for healthcare — but the biggest shift we saw was this:

Less about what’s possible.
More about what actually has to work.

Kelly Hidde put together a few reflections on the 5 takeaways she believes will truly shape what comes next.

(Healthcare Ecosystem Series - Article 6 of 6)

Federal interoperability has moved beyond readiness.

The defining challenge is ex*****on across the healthcare ecosystem.

Recent 2025 ecosystem-level research published in JMIR Publications Inc. Public Health and Surveillance emphasizes governance, patient access, and action-oriented data use as prerequisites for scale.

Before ➡️ and after! Building stronger bonds, one splash of color at a time 🌈

Our Tampa office didn’t just celebrate Holi… we showed what makes this team so special. What you see in the “Selfie of the Century” isn’t just color — it’s connection, energy, and a whole lot of shared joy.

Moments like this remind us that when a team can celebrate together, they can collaborate better, think bigger, and grow stronger together. We’re incredibly proud of this group and the culture they continue to build every day.

How does your team bring people together? We’d love to hear 👇

🏁 That’s a wrap on HIMSS 2026!

What an incredible week of conversations, collaboration, and momentum around the future of FHIR-powered interoperability. From meeting new partners to showcasing the Digital Health Access Card and hosting thought leadership discussions on CMS-0057-F and the future of prior authorization, it’s clear that the healthcare ecosystem is moving quickly toward a more connected, standards-driven future.

Huge thanks to the FHIRBall Alliance, our partners, and everyone who stopped by the booth to connect with the AaNeel team. Until next year, HIMSS.

Great conversations and even better company at HIMSS 2026!

Pictured here with the AaNeel USA team are Kim Boyd (CARIN Alliance), Bhavin Chitaliya, Upendra Patel, and Ed (CTO of NCQA - National Committee for Quality Assurance ).

Events like HIMSS remind us that moving healthcare forward requires collaboration across the ecosystem ... payers, providers, technology innovators, and policy leaders working together. Thanks to everyone who stopped by Booth 249 in the FHIRBall Alliance pavilion to connect with the AaNeel team this week.
