When Alysia’s son Pierce began having seizures at just two years old, she knew something wasn’t right. He was later diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic disorder that led to traumatic brain injuries and the need for round the clock, intensive care.

Finding the Plasencia Chronic Complex Clinic at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital changed everything. The clinic became a lifeline, coordinating Pierce’s medical, physical, and emotional care in one place and surrounding their family with a team who knows him personally and understands his complex needs.

As Pierce has grown, his needs have continued to evolve, bringing new transitions in his care. Through the commitment of St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation in partnership with St. Joseph’s Hospitals, our efforts ensure patients like Pierce can continue receiving the seamless, lifesaving care they depend on at every stage of life.

Yesterday, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Foundation received a generous $10,000 gift from the Steinbrenner family in support of the Steinbrenner Children's Emergency and Trauma Center. Continuing the family’s multigenerational legacy of philanthropy and leadership as principal owners of the New York Yankees. The donation was announced during a special on-field ceremony at George M. Steinbrenner Field, building on the family’s enduring philanthropic impact.

The presentation brought together the Foundation team, volunteer leadership and donors (Howard and Deanna Bayless, David and Laura Osterweil, Ron Parks) hospital leadership including Dr. Dion Samerson, and several inspiring young patients whose lives are touched by this care every day.

For generations, the Steinbrenner family has been a cherished part of the St. Joseph's Children's Hospital family. Their unwavering commitment continues to transform the health and well-being of children across our community, and we are profoundly grateful for their extraordinary generosity.

Art has a powerful way of bringing comfort, connection, and hope, and we’re proud to share a new partnership that’s doing just that at St. Joseph's Hospital - North. 🎨💙

The 4 West inpatient floor and Infusion Center were both looking for visual enhancements to create a more engaging, uplifting experience for patients, visitors, and team members. St. Joseph's Hospital-North partnered with arts leadership at Hillsborough County Public Schools, to bring talented students artwork from Tampa’s Blake High School and Lutz’s Steinbrenner High School to create a stunning gallery. The frames were even designed to allow new pieces to rotate each year, and a book nearby shares each student’s statement and inspiration behind their work.

A heartfelt thank you to these incredible young artists for helping make the hospital spaces feel a little brighter.

“The gratitude of our patients is something that drives us every day.” For Dr. Jeremy Ringewald, pediatric interventional cardiologist at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, caring for children with complex heart conditions isn’t just a profession, it’s a calling.

Having performed more than 6,000 heart catheterizations, he’s witnessed countless moments of relief, hope and healing. While the work can be stressful and the diseases can be challenging, it’s the simple “thank you for making me feel better” that stays with him.

That gratitude fuels his purpose and reminds him why he chose this path. We are so grateful for physicians like Dr. Ringewald, whose skill, compassion and dedication make a life-changing difference for the families we serve every day.

Jessica and Eric still remember the joy of learning they were expecting. Then, at their 11-week ultrasound, when a high-risk appointment revealed their baby had a heart defect, things immediately changed.

They were told their son, Jordan, would need heart surgery within days of being born. After arriving, Jordan was taken straight to the NICU. Six days later, he underwent heart-repair surgery and was finally cleared to go home.

Jordan's parents credit the care team at St. Joseph’s for giving him the chance to grow up healthy and strong. Read Jordan’s full story here: https://www.sjhfoundation.org/hes-all-heart-jordan-palmer/

Meet Zedrick, a tiny warrior with a mighty heart. ❤️

Before he was even born, Zedrick was diagnosed with multiple heart defects. From 19 weeks of pregnancy through delivery, the fetal and perinatal cardiology team at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital walked alongside his mom and Zedrick monitoring both of them every step of the way.

Just two days after birth, Zedrick underwent open-heart surgery at the Patel Children’s Heart Institute. Now, he’s healing in our Pediatric Cardiac ICU, surrounded by a team committed to giving him the strongest start possible.

This Heart Month, Zedrick reminds us what courage looks like, what hope feels like, and why our team pours everything into caring for families like his.

When the Kropik family faced the unimaginable after a devastating car accident left two daughters hospitalized, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House became a lifeline. While Charlotte received critical care in the PICU and later inpatient rehabilitation, her mom, Vivian, found comfort just steps away in a place designed for rest, reassurance and support.

Located on the St. Joseph's Children's Hospital campus, the Ronald McDonald House offers families a quiet, welcoming space to recharge, complete with private bedrooms, meals, wellness spaces and compassionate staff who understand the weight of long hospital stays. For families traveling far from home, it’s more than a place to stay, it’s a place to exhale, regroup and remain close to the ones they love.

“Knowing that my mom was near me felt so good. I feel safer having her close,” Charlotte shared.

When Danielle learned her baby, Salvatore, had hypoplastic left heart syndrome, her world changed in an instant. But thanks to the expert care and compassion of the teams at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital and St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, she found the strength to look forward and hope for her son’s future.
