When faced with stress or danger, the body’s natural response is often to enter a state of fight, flight, or freeze. While much attention has been given to strategies for moving out of the fight or flight response, less focus has been placed on the freeze response.

The freeze response occurs when the body perceives the threat as overwhelming and decides to immobilize as a form of protection. However, being stuck in a functional freeze state can have detrimental effects on both physical and mental well-being.

Fortunately, there are several strategies such as CBT approaches can employ to move themselves out of a freeze state and promote a sense of safety and relaxation. Continue reading...

Breaking free from functional freeze is a gradual process. Using CBT therapy has shown to be an effective way to start beginning to heal.

Complex trauma casts a long shadow over the lives of those affected, shaping their perceptions, behaviors, and relationships in profound ways. However, with the right support and interventions, healing is possible.

By fostering environments of safety, understanding, and empowerment, we help individuals reclaim their narratives, cultivate resilience, and embark on a path towards wholeness and healing. Remember, healing from complex trauma is not a destination but a courageous and transformative journey of self-discovery and renewal.

Our therapist Kayla Rosenkrans specializes in healing Complex Trauma for our clients. She helps client's understand their trauma and move through it using a toolkit of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment & Somatic Therapy, and EMDR Therapy.

Are you ready to dive deeper into your healing journey? Do you want to learn more about how Kayla can help you? Then message us today to setup a complimentary 15 minute call with Kayla to help get started.

Dear parents, please remember that everything you experience in this wild parenting spectrum is NORMAL. You’ll feel the most joy and love imaginable matched with the undertow of overwhelm and helplessness. Sometimes all in the same hour.
-
You are not failing as a parent for feeling all these things. These feelings come with good parenting. Learning how to be with all of it isn’t innately taught to us. Self soothing and regulating isn’t taught to us. Navigating life on zero sleep isn’t taught to us. Healing our wounds and bodies while being available to tiny humans is NOT TAUGHT to us.
-
You’re expanding and learning each day you choose the parent experience. And that’s absolutely enough. Through away the perfect parent companion. Perfect parenting is not full spectrum parenting. So when you’re overwhelmed and want to scream cry (like I do sometimes) remember: “I am doing my best and that’s enough”. 🥰❤️🥰

My Story

Hi! I'm Aniesa and I help people, just like you, breakthrough anxiety, relationship, and growth barriers. I’m a licensed therapist, a doctor of psychology, and creator of Aniesa Hanson Counseling.

Over the past decade, I’ve helped a lot of people from professional athletes, CEO’s, and wealth advisers to stay-at-home moms and college students.

But I didn’t start off that way…
