Safe Toys and Gifts Month, launched in 1973 by Prevent Blindnessยฎ, promotes child safety by raising awareness about age-appropriate toys, product recalls, and eye-injury prevention. Each December, healthcare organizations, pediatric societies, and consumer-safety agencies collaborate to educate families on safe play, hazard awareness, and injury prevention. Supported by resources from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), this observance reinforces health-system leadership in pediatric safety and community stewardship.
