Discussing colorectal cancer can be difficult but a busy Hyde Park priest is hoping that by sharing his story during Colorectal Cancer Awarness Month, it will encourage others to get the recommended screening. He and his BayCare surgeon also hope the screening age will be lowered. Read more below!

Although guidelines now recommend that screening for colorectal cancer begin at 45, colorectal cancer remains a significant health concern with rising cases among younger people.

Registration for the 4th Annual St. Joseph’s Hospital Career Camp Is now open! This three day camp gives local ninth- and 10th-grade students an opportunity to learn hands-on about the different careers in the hospital. Check out our new orthopedics web page! The page highlights our Comprehensive Total Joint Center, navigated robotic-assisted surgery, orthopedic trauma services, pediatric orthopedics and additional services. There is also a FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) section and tools on the page to find an orthopedic doctor or specialist.

The photo gallery includes a recent celebration of the designation of our orthopedic services as a Comprehensive Care Center (CCC). CCCs are often where patients first experience the BayCare Clinical Institutes model of care. Each center focuses on a specific disease or diagnosis and delivers BayCare’s highest level of specialized care for that condition.

A hospital may launch a CCC only when it and its specialty team meet the rigorous standards established by BayCare. These standards typically include advanced provider training and experience, state-of-the-art medical equipment, adequate facility space and availability of trained patient navigators to guide patients through their care journeys.

Welcome Megan Cahn, DO, Internal Medicine!

Dr. Megan Cahn is board certified in internal medicine and joins the BayCare Medical Group practice at 4541 S. Dale Mabry Highway, Suite 100 in Tampa, Florida, where she sees patients age 18 and older. Dr. Cahn treats a wide range of acute illnesses and chronic conditions. She builds long-term relationships with patients through shared decision-making and personalized care. Dr. Cahn takes the time to listen to each patient’s concerns, explain their condition and develop personalized treatment plans.

Dr. Cahn earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida, and completed an internal medicine residency at HCA Florida Largo Hospital in Largo, Florida.
