We now offer Fingernail Drug Testing!!
Fingernail testing is an innovative method for detecting drug and alcohol use, offering several benefits over traditional testing approaches. Nails, like hair, are made of keratin—a tough protein that can trap substances as they grow. Because fingernails are about four times thicker than a strand of hair, they often retain more detectable material.
When someone uses drugs or alcohol, small chemical markers (called biomarkers) can become embedded in the nail as it forms. These markers can be detected within 1 to 2 weeks after use and may remain in the nails for up to 3 to 6 months, depending on the substance, amount used, and individual metabolism. In addition, immediate detection is possible in cases of environmental exposure to drugs.
Fingernail collection is straightforward and minimally invasive. The donor clips a small portion—roughly 2 to 3 millimeters—from each of their ten fingernails, yielding around 100 milligrams of material, which is ideal for accurate testing. A trained professional supervises the process to ensure proper collection.
Because of their stability, ease of transport, and long detection window, fingernails offer a powerful and practical option for substance use monitoring.
