We have been super busy since coming home from the hospital! This is Lisa, our VAD nurse. We couldn’t have traveled this far in this journey without her! Joseph got a great report today! So good, that he doesn’t have to return for two weeks! Just a lab check next week. They even said that he can switch to every other day on his dressing changes. Woohoo! For now his blood levels are high enough that he doesn’t have to take blood thinner injections. Just pills. He is slowly weaning off the insulin as he switches back to his oral meds and weekly injections for his diabetes. His strength gets better every day, and the healing pain gets a tiny bit better. God is Amazing!!!!

I wanted to take a moment to catch everyone up on how Joseph is doing. He is now 23 days out of surgery and doing amazing!!! I am so proud of him! This is a shirt that his brother got him that is specifically designed to carry his controller and batteries so he doesn’t have to use the bag. He loves it! We came home on the 16th, and it has been crazy adjusting to our new normal, but we are slowly getting into a rhythm. I was able to return to work this past Monday, and it feels good to be back in the swing of things. He had a follow up with the doctor today and got a great report! He was finally able to get the stitches out that were securing his drive line, and that will help a lot with dressing changes. We also have to tweak some of his meds, but that is to be expected. We are both so grateful to all of our prayer warriors for standing in the gap with us!

Joseph had a great first day at home. He sat in the chair and watched a movie and a football game with me. He is moving around the house really well. Pain from last night is gone. PTL!

We made a prison break! PTL!!! Joseph said it felt good to get out of the bed. Getting home and getting settled was a hot mess express, but we made it! Pray that Joseph gets a good nights rest, because all the moving and getting settled took a lot out of him. Thanks again to all our prayer warriors who have lifted our family up over the last few weeks. God has been so good to us, and this amazing recovery is because of Him!
