Our heart warriors and their families took over the Glazer Children's Museum on Saturday for a night of play, connection and celebration. From reuniting with the medical team who helped save their lives to meeting other children with heart defects, the evening was filled with fun and fellowship—no hospital gowns required. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Heart Reunion such a joyful reminder of how strong our heart community truly is. 💙

❤️ Meet James, who was diagnosed in the womb with total anomalous pulmonary venous return, a rare congenital heart defect where all four pulmonary veins connect abnormally to the right atrium instead of the left. His mother, Jenny, was 5 months pregnant when the condition was diagnosed, and our fetal and pediatric cardiology team closely monitored both mom and baby every step of the way.

When James arrived earlier than expected, his journey quickly intensified. He underwent open-heart surgery in our Patel Children’s Heart Institute just hours after birth, bravely facing more in his first days of life than most ever will.

Jenny remembers the fear and uncertainty that came with his diagnosis—but also remembers the comfort she and her husband, Cody, felt knowing their son was in expert, compassionate hands. From regular prenatal monitoring to constant updates during surgery, they never felt alone.

Today, James is 6 months old and thriving. During Heart Month, join us in sending love and strength to this little heart warrior and his family, and thanking our congenital cardiac team for the lifesaving care they provide each and every day. 💙

❤️ Meet 2-week-old Zedrick, a tiny warrior with a mighty heart. ❤️

While he was still in the womb, he was diagnosed with multiple heart defects. From 19 weeks pregnant through delivery, our fetal and perinatal cardiology team closely monitored both mom and baby every step of the way.

Two days after he was born, Zedrick underwent open heart surgery in our Patel Children’s Heart Institute. He’s now healing in our pediatric cardiac ICU, surrounded by a team dedicated to giving him the strongest start possible.

His mom, Jennifer, remembers the fear, the uncertainty and the shock of the diagnoses. But she also remembers something else: the moment she met our congenital cardiac team and knew her baby was in the very best hands.

This Heart Month, Zedrick reminds us what courage looks like. What hope feels like. And why our congenital cardiac team pours everything they have into caring for families like his. Join us in sending love and strength to this incredible little fighter and his family.
