We’re honored to be featured in Hospice News for the launch of our Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT) program, made possible through our partnership with .

We’ve begun our training with Dr. Lida Fatemi at in Medical Psilocybin Facilitator Training, followed by Ketamine-Assisted Therapy training with Elemental Psychedelics.

As we move forward, we are thoughtfully integrating psychedelic medicines into clinical care, recognizing their potential to ease end-of-life existential distress, lessen anxiety and depression, and support pain and emotional suffering when used responsibly and within a therapeutic framework. Our goal is to help patients find greater calm, clarity, and meaning during a deeply vulnerable time.

We’re excited to be leading this emerging work in hospice care while staying grounded in our commitment to equitable, culturally rooted, and community-centered care for everyone we serve.

Modern hospice care began with a simple but powerful idea: that caring for people at the end of life should center dignity, comfort, and the whole person, not just the illness.

In the 1960s, Cicely Saunders helped reshape end-of-life care by challenging the belief that nothing more could be done once curative treatment stopped. She recognized that suffering could be physical, emotional, social, and spiritual, and that all of it deserved care.

What began as a quiet shift in thinking grew into modern hospice care: a model rooted in presence, listening, and respect for both patients and their families.

Hospice care began as an act of service.
And at its heart, it still is.

Being a lamp can mean listening without interruption.
Being a lifeboat can mean staying close when things feel overwhelming.
Being a ladder can mean offering gentle support at the right place.

None of use are meant to do this alone.

Our Red Willow Hospice family and Taos Enchanted Village came together for our first memorial service honoring residents who passed in the past year. Names were spoken, candles were lit, and we shared a quiet ritual of remembrance. Thank you to everyone who shared in this meaningful moment.

Grief doesn't need solutions. It needs compassion, understanding, and gentle support from those around us.

Sometimes being there means cooking a meal, writing a heartfelt note, or sitting quietly together.

Sometimes it just means being present and holding space.
