Holy Cross Medical Center would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the New Mexico Legislature and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham for their leadership in establishing the Rural Health Care Practitioner Tax Credit for registered nurses serving in rural hospitals.
This important legislation, which provides eligible rural RNs with an annual tax credit of up to $3,000, represents a meaningful investment in the healthcare professionals who care for some of our state’s most vulnerable and geographically isolated communities. Rural nurses are the cornerstone of hospitals like Holy Cross, delivering high-quality, compassionate care close to home for thousands of New Mexicans.
To date, we have provided 70 letters verifying hours worked for our registered nurses seeking to claim the credit. The strong participation among our nursing staff demonstrates both the value of this program and the tangible difference it is making in supporting and retaining rural healthcare professionals.
We deeply appreciate the Legislature’s and Governor’s continued commitment to strengthening rural healthcare across New Mexico. This tax credit sends a powerful message to our nurses that their dedication, expertise, and service are recognized and valued.
With gratitude,
Holy Cross Medical Center
New Mexico Legislature
