We are proud to celebrate a major milestone for heart care in New Mexico. On January 22, Holy Cross Hospital in Taos successfully completed the first HeartFlow Plaque Analysis procedures in the state. This achievement reflects the collaboration of our cardiology team, including Dr. Tiziano Scarabelli and Carol Chen-Scarabelli, along with the dedicated work of our radiology and imaging department and the trust of the two patients who participated. Bringing this advanced, noninvasive technology to Taos is another example of Holy Cross’ ongoing commitment to providing the best care possible for our rural community, close to home.

At Holy Cross Hospital, patient feedback plays a vital role in improving care for our community. By reviewing patient experience data each month, hospital leaders identify what is working and where changes can make a difference. Recently, Holy Cross Hospital reported strong improvement across all ten inpatient experience measures in September and October, with scores exceeding state benchmarks. These insights help care teams strengthen communication, responsiveness, and coordination from admission through discharge, ensuring patients and families receive the highest quality care guided by the voices of those we serve.

Holy Cross Medical Center came together in a big way this holiday season through our annual CAV Angel Tree program. Thanks to the generosity of our employees, more than 70 gifts were donated to CAV to be distributed to local children in need.

From bikes and beds to toys and everyday essentials, our team helped brighten the season for families across our community. The generosity was so overwhelming that gifts were overflowing from PBX, and it truly took a small army to help move and organize everything.

A special thank you to Anna Fresquez and Felicia Bustos for coordinating this incredible effort and helping make it all come together.

From our family to yours, happy holidays. Stay safe and enjoy your time with family and friends.
