During National Diabetes Month, Rx Partnership would like to recognize the free and charitable clinics we partner with throughout Virginia. These providers treat patients with chronic conditions -- like diabetes -- every day.

One of these patients, Irene,* is a retired 64-year-old with Type 1 diabetes who was previously purchasing her medications out-of-pocket because she was uninsured. Since becoming a patient at Ledwith Lewis Free Clinic in 2022 and enrolling in the AMP medication program from Rx Partnership, she no longer has to worry about the cost of her insulin or asking family members to help pay for her prescriptions.

Irene says, "I'm not fearful now to have meals or to wonder what my blood sugar level is... I'm relieved of the stress of purchasing insulin and the fear of high blood sugar levels." 🙏

Help Rx Partnership work towards medication access for EVERYONE in Virginia. Every $1 you give provides $28 in medications to patients. 🙌 💊

For last week, Bay Rivers Telehealth Alliance - BRTA and the Ledwith Lewis Free Clinic spent the afternoon with Thomas J. Engels, Administrator, with the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), for an open, honest discussion about the day-to-day realities of rural healthcare, the heavy lift, the persistent obstacles, and the unwavering dedication delivered to communities. His visit also provided meaningful recognition on a day dedicated to the people who keep rural communities healthy.

Projects were outlined that keep the region moving forward and demonstrated the impact of HRSA funding across BRTA-led initiatives including expanding access to care, scaling telehealth programs, strengthening behavioral health and SUD services, supporting justice-involved individuals, increasing MAT access, building out our Mobile Integrated Healthcare model, and advancing youth prevention efforts.
