This one-time requirement is designed to help detect potential heart concerns early and add an extra layer of protection for young athletes. The good news? EKGs are fast, painless, and provide valuable insight into heart health.

According to the Health Care Cost Institute, the average urgent care visit for a urinary tract infection in 2022 was $218, compared to $2,511 in the ER for the same diagnosis. For infectious disease exposure, the average urgent care visit was $215, but around five times lower than an ER visit at $1,422.
