Crater

Who would expect this thing,
impact flash, this echo
of a thing, lunar
basin to carry
such weight.

Oh Carroll,
two l’s, two r’s,

Oh Reid, Christina,
Victor, Jeremy,

how you named
how you carried

this ocean
this oasis

of feeling, gave it a home,

neonatal nurse now orbits
Earth in perpetuity.

There’s a place for us,

we appear and disappear,
none of us reach this escape

velocity but for a moment,
weightless embrace

two-hundred-fifty-two-thousand
miles from home:

Hold us, oh Integrity,

our Full House, three
Americans, one zero gravity
indicator named Rise,
and a Canadian kicker,

who even needs that tune
to know everywhere
you look everywhere
you go,

yours, ours, us:

somewhere.
