🥔✨ Same potato… new adventure! ✨🥔

In feeding therapy, we’re building food flexibility by keeping the flavor familiar and changing the form.
Today’s potato lineup: French fries, waffle fries, hashbrowns, and mashed potatoes.

This is food chaining in action — starting with what feels safe and gently stretching toward new textures and bites. We take it slow and make it playful:
👃 smell • ✋ touch • 👅 taste • 😋 chew

No pressure, just practice… and real progress 💛

Eating is one of the most complex tasks the human body performs. When a child feels safe, supported, and successful in their body, progress follows 💙

If mealtimes feel hard right now, you’re not doing anything wrong and your child isn’t either. There’s always a why, and there’s always a way forward 💛

💬 Save this post, share it with a parent who needs reassurance, or reach out if feeding feels overwhelming. We’re here to help ❤️

❄️ Winter Camp is in full swing! ⛸️

We brought the “snow” and created an indoor ice-skating sensory experience! A tarp, shaving cream, and water turned our gym into a slippery winter wonderland—perfect for sensory exploration, balance, motor planning, and lots of giggles.

Messy, playful, and packed with therapeutic goodness… just how we like it 🤍

And look at him now 🥹
A master of buttoning, fastening, and LEGOs (the ultimate fine motor flex)!!!

We are so proud of you, E. Watching kids grow into their skills and confidence is why we love what we do 🤍

Simple, meaningful gifts that support early development through play 👶💛

🖤 High Contrast Sensory Books or Cards
Support early visual development and attention. Babies are naturally drawn to bold contrasts before color vision fully develops.

🤸 Play Gym with Hanging Toys
Encourages tummy time, reaching, kicking, and early hand-eye coordination while building core and shoulder strength.

👄 Textured Silicone Teether
Promotes oral exploration, hand to mouth coordination, and early oral motor skills that support future feeding.

Thoughtful gifts do not need to be fancy. The best toys support development, connection, and joyful play.

When play goes full circle! 🌈
Barrel rolling provides rich vestibular and proprioceptive input while challenging a child’s body to move as one integrated unit. This activity supports core strength, postural control, bilateral coordination, and motor planning while also promoting body awareness and spatial orientation. The deep pressure and rhythmic movement can help regulate the nervous system, build confidence with movement, and encourage adaptive responses through play.

What’s on the other side of the rope?
Strength, regulation, and a whole lot of heavy work fun! 💪✨

Heavy work (also known as proprioceptive input) helps kids feel grounded, organized, and ready to focus. It can calm an overwhelmed nervous system or wake up a sluggish one — which is why we love incorporating it into our sessions at Therapy In Action!

Here are some easy home-friendly heavy work ideas you can try:

• Pulling a laundry basket filled with pillows or toys
• Pushing a sibling on a scooter or riding toy
• Carrying groceries or a stack of books
• Helping “wash” the floor with a big towel (push-pull motion)
• Pushing couch cushions into place
• Making a “crash zone” with pillows and safely jumping in
• Animal walks (bear walk, crab walk, frog jumps) around the house
• Tug-of-war with a rope or towel
• Helping take out the trash

Heavy work doesn’t have to be fancy — just intentional movement that uses big muscles and gives big input. And kids LOVE it. 💛
