🦛 Burping Bobby for Speech Therapy!

Burping Bobby is a silly hippo game where kids feed him different food items… and then he suddenly burps! 🤣🦛💨
It’s the perfect toy because the surprise keeps kids engaged while we target:

🍔 Food vocabulary — pizza, coke, hot chocolate, or any target vocabulary words
🔥 Describing words — crunchy, stinky, yummy, hot
🗣️ Verbs — eat, bite, chew, swallow, burp
💬 Sentence building — “Bobby ate the pizza!”
🎯 Predicting & inferencing — “What will happen when he eats THIS?”

The goofy burps make the learning feel fun and high-energy, and kids work SO much harder when they’re waiting for Bobby’s next big burp!

Perfect for boosting vocabulary, expressive language, attention, and engagement in a playful way.

Hamburger Fun to teach /th/ sound 🍔

Tongue Placement:

• Stick the tip of your tongue slightly between your teeth (you can see it in a mirror).
• The air should flow between the tongue and teeth.
• The teeth rest lightly on the tongue — don’t bite down!

Voiceless /θ/:

• Blow air out gently over your tongue.
• You should feel the air on your hand if you hold it in front of your mouth.

Voiced /ð/:

• Same position, but turn on your voice.
• You can place a hand on your throat to feel vibration.

Imitation is a key part of speech therapy. It helps children learn to listen, engage, and build the foundation for clear speech and language.

Here are some DO’s and DONT’s when using a pacifier: ✅ DO...

Here are some DO’s and DONT’s when using a pacifier: ✅ DOs

• Use in moderation – especially for naps, bedtime, or stressful moments.
• Take pacifier out before talking – encourage your child to communicate with an empty mouth.
• Encourage babbling & sounds – play games that promote vocal play.
• Transition after 12–18 months – reduce daily use as your child’s speech grows.
• Offer alternatives – like a favorite blanket, toy, or comfort routine.
• Seek guidance – ask a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) if you notice speech errors or delays.

🚫 DON’Ts

• Don’t allow “all-day use” – it limits chances for speech practice.
• Don’t let your child talk with the pacifier in – it blocks tongue movement and muffles sounds.
• Don’t wait too long to wean – extended use (past age 2–3) can affect teeth and speech.
• Don’t ignore habits – thumb sucking or constant pacifier use may also impact speech.
