Mike’s addiction began early. By the time he was in high school he was buying pills at school, eventually turning to he**in. His life spiraled quickly. Within a year of graduation, he was running drugs across state lines and committing robberies to feed his addiction. Eventually he was arrested and charged with 14 felonies, facing mandatory prison time.

With nowhere else to turn, Mike walked through the doors of Adult and Teen Challenge in 2004. There he encountered something he had never experienced before: real accountability, genuine love, and the truth of the gospel. In a December chapel service, the reality of Jesus’ sacrifice broke through his hardened heart, and everything changed.

The transformation was unmistakable. Mike devoted himself to prayer, Scripture, and serving others. Miraculously, the judge assigned to his case reduced his expected sentence from decades in prison to probation, a turning point that allowed him to rebuild his life.

In 2006, Mike’s mother Josephine came into the program. She had been struggling with crippling alcoholism for nearly 30 years. While it was the hardest thing she ever had to do, Josephine graduated the program. Their strained relationship was completely restored.

Today, Mike and Josephine are living proof of God’s restoring power. He worked for Adult and Teen Challenge for years, built a family, bought a home, and now uses his gifts to serve, encourage, and bring hope to others through Christian comedy.

🎄 Become Part of Our Residents Story This Christmas

For so many of the residents at Adult and Teen Challenge SNE, NNE, and NJ, Christmas has never meant what it should.
Their past holidays weren’t filled with wonder and warmth – they were marked by addiction, pain, trauma, and memories they wish they could forget. Dark nights. Broken relationships. The kind of Christmas no one should ever have to experience.

But this year, we’re rewriting that story.

We’re taking our residents on an overnight trip to New York City – complete with a stay at the Marriott Hotel, tickets to see the Rockettes, beautiful meals together, manicures, and special gifts (Christmas sweatshirts, NY t-shirts, and cozy PJs).

This isn’t just a fun trip. This is the moment when Christmas becomes something entirely different for them. When they realize…..

Exciting News for ATCSNE Women’s Home!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Dr. Michael Caparrelli will be joining us for 24 seminars throughout 2026! Despite having only three weekends open for the entire year, Dr. Caparrelli has committed to partnering with us in this transformative work with our ladies.

First Quarter Topics
Each topic will be explored over two weeks, giving our women time to truly absorb and apply these life-changing principles:

Identity in Christ - Understanding inherent worth and value beyond past struggles, shame, or mistakes. This foundational work helps women discover who they truly are.

Managing Feelings -
Building essential skills for healthy emotional regulation. Learning to identify, sit with, and appropriately express emotions provides critical tools for long-term sobriety and wellness.

Getting Out of a Funk - Developing concrete strategies to break negative cycles. Addressing depression, discouragement, and hopelessness with practical tools that can be life-saving.

Dealing with Difficult People - Learning to set boundaries and navigate conflict without relapse. Whether with family, friends, or coworkers, these skills will serve our ladies for life.

Why This Matters
These topics aren’t just helpful…..they’re critical to recovery. Many women have never learned healthy emotional regulation or had their identity affirmed. They’ve turned to substances or destructive behaviors because they lacked the tools Dr. Caparrelli will be teaching.

This partnership represents a significant investment in our women’s recovery journeys, and we couldn’t be more excited about the transformation ahead!

Shout Out to our very own (😍)
✨Pastor Tony Palow✨for the powerful seminar delivered to us yesterday on 2 Corinthians 10:4-6!
Pastor, your teaching on taking every thought captive was exactly what our ATCSNE staff and residents needed to hear.

The reminder that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God” resonated deeply. You helped us understand that our battle isn’t fought with human strength, but through God’s power to tear down strongholds and destructive thought patterns.

Your practical application to recovery was transformational. Learning to recognize lies we’ve believed, interrupt negative thinking, and replace those thoughts with God’s truth gives us real tools for daily victory. The concept of “demolishing arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God” speaks directly to the false beliefs that fuel addiction and despair.

You reminded us that recovery isn’t just about stopping destructive behaviors—it’s about renewing our minds and taking control of our thought life. When we bring every thought into obedience to Christ, we break the chains that have held us captive.

This teaching will continue bearing fruit in our lives and in our community. Thank you for investing in us and pointing us toward lasting freedom in Christ.
