Tamara Humbert

Tamara Lynn Humbert, 54, of Taylor, Texas, passed away on February 27, 2026. She was born on October 15, 1971, in Taylor, Texas to Thomas Schoenrock and Joyce Schoenrock.

She worked for over a decade on the order processing team at Dell Computer. She was dedicated to her work and built lifelong friendships there. Her coworkers loved her, and she shared many laughs with them over the years.

For 15 years, she also cared for her mother and father, and looked after her husband Jay who suffered many health issues. Doing this all while quietly facing kidney disease and dialysis, she continued to put others first. Taking care of the people she loved was important to her. This is a testament to her love and endurance.

Tamara had a goofy personality and a sharp sense of humor that could light up an entire room. She loved her cat, Satan. She enjoyed more than anything hiking with her son, spending time outdoors, and swimming.

She will be remembered for her strength, her humor, and the love she gave to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Tamara is survived by her father, Thomas Schoenrock; her brother, Raymond Schoenrock; and her son, Johnathan Schoenrock.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Schoenrock; her brother, Greg Schoenrock; and her husband, Jay Humbert.

Service will be Saturday March 28th at 2pm at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor TX.

Ruth Brockman

Ruth Vernell Brockman passed away on March 2, 2026, after a long battle with Dementia.

She was born to Fritz Brockman and Martha Goerlitz Brockman on June 23, 1945. Ruth attended Lanier High School and graduated from Southwest Texas with a degree in Sociology. Ruth worked at the Travis County Tax Office while she was obtaining her teaching certificate and then began her teaching career in Del Valle and Taylor. She taught Special Ed at the high school level and loved her career and students greatly.

When Ruth was growing up in Austin, the Brockman’s built and owned a grocery store on Burnet Road where a Jack in the Box now stands. Ruth worked at the store while she attended high school. The street behind the store bears the Brockman name. They stayed in the grocery business for about seventeen years. Ruth told so many sweet stories about her mom and Dad. Can you believe, “they never fussed”? The family laughed, worked and had fun together.

Ruth grew up in the Lutheran Faith her whole life. Attending Redeemer Lutheran school and church, later she moved to Taylor and became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lenora Brockman, and the love of her life Tommy McDaniel. They were together for over 30 years. They enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing pool and the Dallas Cowboys. She was also preceded in death by her dogs, who brought her great joy and companionship, Winston, Kaiser, and Schindler.

She is survived by her daughter Jade Brockman, son Slade Brockman “6ft 2 eyes of blue”, granddaughters Channing Beas (Alex) and Arden Garrett and great granddaughter River Funderburke, whom she dearly loved and enjoyed.

The family would like to extend its most sincere gratitude to University Village Memory Care, in Round Rock, Trinity Lutheran Church and all her cherished friends over the years.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, with the funeral immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at SPJST in Taylor.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church 3505 N. Main Street, Taylor TX 76574, or a charity of your choice.

Kelly Gorham

Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Kelly Merrill Gorham, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a woman whose faith, resilience, and generosity shaped every life she touched.

Kelly was born on May 11, 1948, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Jack and Evelyn Merrill. Kelly peacefully passed away on February 26, 2026, at her home in Pflugerville, Texas, at the age of 77. As the third child in her family, she inherited a vibrant, fun-loving spirit and a natural charisma that would define her throughout her life. She had a presence that filled a room, not because she sought attention, but because people were drawn to her warmth, humor, and authenticity.

As the daughter of a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Air Force, Kelly grew up learning to adapt, begin again, and embrace change. Throughout her childhood, she called many places home, including Kearney, Austin, England, Utah, Fort Worth, and Pflugerville. With each move, she shaped her independence and strengthened her resilience that would later define her as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She graduated from Richland High School in North Richland Hills, where she was active in drama and excelled academically, particularly in mathematics. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gene Gorham. Their story began young and was rooted in lasting commitment and shared values.

Kelly and Gene were married on June 7, 1967, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and quiet strength. In 1968, they welcomed their son, Sean, and soon after, Gene was deployed to the Philippines during the Vietnam War. During that challenging time, Kelly remained at home caring for a young child while pregnant with their daughter, Tara. She faced those years not with complaint but with resolve, embodying steadiness and carrying her family forward with courage. When Gene returned home following his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, they continued building their life together in Austin, Texas.

After many years as a devoted wife and mother, Kelly attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Nursing was more than a profession to her; it was an extension of who she was. She possessed a servant’s heart and a deep desire to care for others.

If you knew Kelly, you knew she loved books. She could lose herself in a story, then eagerly draw others into it, sharing what she had read and engaging in thoughtful, lively conversations. Her curiosity was constant, always learning, always exploring.

That same curiosity fueled her love of travel. Exploring the world with Gene became one of her greatest joys. Together, they visited England, Scotland, Eastern Europe, Finland, Ireland, Italy, France, Alaska, and even the North Pole. These trips were not simply about destinations; they were about shared experiences, laughter, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Yet perhaps Kelly’s greatest gift was her ability to bring people together. Holidays at her home were not optional events; they were mandatory. Christmas Eve, Easter, the Fourth of July, and countless ordinary days became extraordinary because she gathered everyone around her table. She did not need a special reason to celebrate. She simply needed her family close.

She loved fiercely. She gave freely. She helped without hesitation. And she lived by a simple but powerful belief: there was always room for one more — one more chair at the table, one more plate of food, one more person to love.

Kelly is survived by her children, Sean and his wife Tammy, and Tara and her husband Shannon; her five grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Stephanie, Garett, and Savannah; her four great-grandchildren, Gus, Jacie, Parker, and Salem; her sister, Chris Grahmann and her husband Forrest; and her nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene; her parents, Jack and Evelyn; her brother, J. Charles; and her sister, Patricia.

Though we feel the weight of her absence, we carry forward the gift of her example, resilience, generosity, unwavering devotion to family, and the way she lived with an open door and an open heart. Her legacy endures in the family she cherished, the traditions she created, and the love she gave so freely.

And if we honor her well, we will continue to live as she did — always making room for one more.

John B Nelson Jr.

John Birger “JB” Nelson, Jr. was born August 28, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas. His father, John Birger Nelson, emigrated from southern Sweden and his mother, Veronica “Virgie” Jonietz, was a first generation Polish American. Neither parent attended high school but strongly encouraged their sons to seek higher education. John graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and went on to receive a PhD in nuclear physics from the University of Texas at Austin and remained a proud Longhorn till his death. He worked for decades at Texas Nuclear where he was President of the company for many years, owned his own company called MENCO working with his childhood friend Karl Dlugos, and ultimately helped found the Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC). In 2025, the TEDC dedicated their board room to John for his service and leadership.

He was a long-standing member of the Taylor Rotary Club and embraced and lived the motto of Service Above Self. He served on many boards including John’s Community Hospital board and facilitated its transition to the Baylor Scott and White Hospital.

While serving as the Executive Director of the TEDC, he was the lead on many community projects. He set the trajectory that has led to changes in Taylor that will continue to impact it today and in the future.

He was a member of the Temple College at Taylor (TCAT) Board for 31 years and was instrumental in bringing Temple College to Taylor. His work on the TCAT board helped lead to the commitment by The University of Texas in 2024 to establishing a UT campus in Taylor by the year 2029. He was proudest of that accomplishment because he understood that it will change lives for generations to come. Even after retiring, John worked tirelessly for the community he loved -- Taylor, Texas.

John was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church for over 50 years during which time he served in many capacities of support including the recent capital campaign to remodel the beautiful old church. He was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus (40 plus years) and participated in their many activities.

He served on the St. Mary’s Catholic School Board of Directors for several years, keeping with his passionate support of education.

With his first wife Mary Elizabeth “ME” Ann Anderson Nelson, John had three daughters who survive him. Elizabeth “Beth” Ann, Ellen Marie and Evelyn Gail. ME died in 2002 after 45 years of marriage.

John married his soul mate, Rosemary Bonura Hauser-Nelson, on November 24, 2007. They spent 18+ years loving and supporting each other through sickness and in health. They loved Italy and took two month-long trips there. They also spent every January at the coast for ten plus years where John spent many hours fishing.

John, a devoted catholic, was called home on February 24, 2026. While heaven is enriched with his passing, John leaves a loving family and large groups of friends behind.

He is survived by his daughters Beth Nelson and her husband Austin Cooney and their children John (great-grandchildren J.P. and Patrick), Aoibhistin (great-grandchildren Zuri, Maeve, Gavin, Fergus) Grace (great-grandchild Niamh) and Jace, Ellen and her children Meredith and Anderson, and Evelyn, her husband Clayton Rhoades and Evelyn’s children Mary Elizabeth, Caroline, Edythe, and Ruth.

John’s life was also enriched by Rosemary’s children -- L.J. and his sons Jacob and Jackson, Deborah, her husband Dudley and their son Joshua, and David and his daughter Valentina.

John has been the senior patriarch of the Jonietz family for years. He is preceded in death by his younger brother Thomas Allen Nelson and his parents. He is leaving behind a large cohort of extended family and friends, many of whom were fellow fishermen in the “Yellow Catters,” or teammates on the “Older Man’s Softball League,” or people who enjoyed a great meal at 1510.

John was a person who knew himself, liked himself and loved those around him. He will be missed.

Roy Allgood

Roy Allgood of Taylor departed us to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday evening, January 23, 2026.

Roy was born at home in Brownwood, Texas, on September 28, 1928, to parents Noble Fisk Allgood and Sadie Loyal Wells Allgood. Roy was the youngest of four brothers. Growing up in Brownwood, he played football in high school until suffering a knee injury. After graduation, he moved to Odessa, Texas, briefly for work and then returned to Brownwood where he went to work for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Service. On March 6, 1948, he married Lois Laverne Hinds, also of Brownwood.

Shortly after his marriage, he and Lois moved to Austin, Texas, when he was transferred for work. Then in 1949, Roy and Lois moved to Taylor, Texas, where for a time he owned a Texaco Service Station. He was also a member of the Army National Guard for many years. Roy had several jobs before settling on a career working for the Missouri Pacific (MoPac) Railroad in 1955, from which he ultimately retired as a conductor in 1990.

Roy had many favorite pastimes. He loved boating, fishing and waterskiing; he spent much time on the water or camping near the water. He loved children and dogs, and they loved him, too. He loved to grow onions, and he enjoyed chatting with his coffee group in the mornings. He and Lois were members of the Road Runners Travel Group, with whom they travelled extensively. Roy loved to watch football and baseball and old Westerns. He also loved to play dominoes and was a member of various game groups. People referred to him as the Candyman: he loved to make people smile and always had candy in his pocket to give out to anyone who asked. Roy was very service oriented and always willing to help people out in any way he could.

Roy was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Taylor. He served as a deacon in the church for many years. While Roy and Lois never had children of their own, Roy was a father figure to many, including niece Sheila Hinds for whom Roy and Lois became legal guardians.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, W.D. Allgood, Ben Allgood, and Bailey Allgood, 2 nephews, 1 niece, and numerous cousins with whom he was close. He is survived by his wife, Lois, one cousin, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Roy was laid to rest on February 5, 2026, in Jenkins Springs Cemetery in Early, Texas. There will be a celebration of life at the First Baptist Church in Taylor in the Spring of 2026, date to be determined.

The last six years of his life, Roy resided with Lois at the SPJST Nursing Home in Taylor. Family wishes to thank SPJST Nursing Home and Concho Heart Hospice for their care and attention to him in his final years and days.
