You don’t have to be your teen’s memory system forever.

If you’re constantly reminding them to take meds, eat, walk the dog, or brush their teeth… it’s exhausting for both of you.
Instead of becoming the reminder, teach them how to build one.

Their phone can hold the structure their brain is still learning to create.

Reminders = independenceReminders = less conflictReminders = real-life skills they’ll actually use

Start small. Set it up with them. Practice the follow-through.

You’re not stepping back. You’re setting them up.

Save this for later and share with a parent who needs this shift.

This most basic life skill is something I’m often surprised that college kids don’t know how to use.

Teaching your child how to put their school work, tests, extra curriculars and appointments into their calendars is a foundational skill that they will build on to help increase their executive functioning skills as they enter into adulthood.

Follow for part 2 of helping your teen launch into college.
