Studies have consistently found that high-intensity interval training (HIIT), including sprint intervals, is more effective than moderate-intensity continuous exercise (like jogging) for reducing visceral adipose tissue (VAT).

🧠 Why It Works
• Metabolic boost: Sprinting triggers a high post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), meaning you burn more calories after the workout ends.
• Hormonal impact: SIT stimulates catecholamines (e.g., adrenaline) and growth hormone, which help mobilize and break down visceral fat.
• Improved insulin sensitivity: Better glucose metabolism can reduce fat accumulation, particularly around the organs.

Some examples for exercise are Jumping Jacks, Plank Jacks, burpees, High knees, Running in place. They are 20 seconds on 10 seconds off - 4 sets per exercise and in between a 2-5 minute rest. The whole class will take 30 minutes with warm up and cool off.

It's thrilling to see my soon-to-be 68-year-young client crush a two-minute weighted plank, a testament to the transformative power of dedication and perseverance.

Women can begin to experience a gradual decline in balance as early as their mid-30s through their 50s, often due to factors such as muscle loss and changes in the vestibular system of the inner ear. After age 65, this decline typically becomes more pronounced, leading to an increased risk of falls.

Regularly performing weighted planks helps build core strength, which supports better posture, enhances balance, and reduces the risk of back pain. This exercise also improves coordination, boosts functional fitness for everyday activities, and promotes a more toned and engaged appearance in the core area.

If you are a member at Temple Fitness come join me for Sprint interval training (SIT).
SIT involves short bursts of maximum-effort exercise followed by significant recovery periods. It's not just about running sprints; it's about any exercise done at maximum intensity for 30 seconds or less, with ample recovery time (2-4 minutes) to allow for full energy and nervous system recovery. This approach is particularly beneficial for women, especially during perimenopause and menopause.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Key Principles of SIT
Maximum Effort Sprints:
SIT involves short, intense bursts of activity, aiming for your absolute maximum effort for 30 seconds or less.
Full Recovery:
The crucial element is the recovery period, which can be 2-4 minutes or more, allowing for the replenishment of energy systems and central nervous system.

Dear Beloved Clients,

As some of you may already know, I’ve been managing a knee injury over the past four months. After much waiting and investigation, I finally have some clear answers—it looks like surgery is necessary.

With that in mind, I, unfortunately, won’t be returning to Thai bodywork this year. However, I’m grateful to have a wonderful Thai practitioner who will be stepping in to support my regular clients during this time. If you’d like her contact information, please don’t hesitate to message me.

To my personal training clients: we’re continuing as usual. No rest for the wicked, for now! 😅

Thank you all so much for your ongoing support, understanding, and patience. I truly appreciate each and every one of you. ❤️

“Consistency is key” they say…
We get pulled in so many different directions by this thing called life. My workout has always been a way to pull myself back in the direction of myself, my mind, my body and my soul. Once you develop a body mind connection, workout becomes a wonderful sit down with yourself, a wonderful conversation between your body and your mind.
