Something truly special to share in mission work near and far ❤️

Last month, Mrs. Schoener, owner of Live Fully Therapy, visited our classroom to share about her mission trips to Kenya, where she serves children in a local home. 🇰🇪

It was so special for our students to see how someone who cares for children right here in our community is also making an impact across the world. 💛

We learned how life there is different from ours from sharing rooms with many siblings to having just a few outfits and our hearts were moved.

When asked how we could help, she shared one simple need: colored pencils ✏️

A small way for us to love and serve children near and far ❤️

💙 October is Dyslexia Awareness Month 💙

Our Certified Reading Specialist, Charlene, wanted to share some valuable insights from Heggerty, a phonemic awareness curriculum used in many early education classrooms.

Here are a few early signs of Dyslexia to look for:

🔹 Difficulty learning letters and sounds

🔹 Trouble recognizing rhyming patterns even after instruction

🔹 Doesn’t yet understand that words come apart into smaller sounds

These early indicators can help parents and educators provide support sooner and that makes all the difference 💪

Back-to-school transitions can feel BIG especially for kids needing a little extra support.

Here are some simple therapy-inspired ideas to make it smoother:

✋ OT: Practice fine motor skills (snipping, coloring, zippers, opening lunch items).
🏃 PT: Build stamina with animal walks, balance games, and short seated table times.
🗣️ SLP: Role-play classroom conversations + practice turn-taking at home.
📚 Reading: Keep it fun with school-themed books, letter hunts, or audiobooks.

Small steps now can make the first days a little lighter 💛

People often ask - What is Occupational Therapy???? What do you do???
