Halfway there 💪

No big speeches…
Not alot of posts…
Just early mornings, repetition, and showing up even when it would’ve been easier not to.

This goal is new for me. Definitely unfamiliar.
Going on a stage to compete my physique was a random goal I wanted to hit. I was on a weekend run and just decided *poof…I wanna do it!!

So the support, encouragement, and random check-ins have meant more than people probably realize.

Grateful for everyone who’s been in my corner…even when this looked a little random from the outside. To the early morning messages to the simple “Double tap” of my stories and posts, I appreciate all of it.

Alright…
back to it 🚦 ❗️

What I changed to become a better in-law…and why it worked:

Let Go of the Role I Invented
• When I joined a new family, I didn’t know where I fit.
• I stayed in the background, unsure of my place.
• I told myself my role was small.

The NPC Mindset
• I felt like a non playable character.
• My wife carried the stories and the conversations.
• I was present…but not seen.
• Old trust issues told me no one really cared about me.

Stoic Awareness
• The discomfort wasn’t coming from them.
• It came from the story I was telling myself.
• I judged my place instead of standing in it.

Stop Forcing…Start Allowing
• I stopped trying to earn belonging.
• I let my personality come through naturally.
• I let my energy flow.

Be Yourself Without Gripping
• I spoke when it felt right.
• I shared without performing.
• I stayed grounded instead of seeking validation.

Seen Without Asking
• My presence settled into the room.
• My accomplishments were acknowledged without being announced.
• Respect arrived quietly.

Belonging Through Contribution
• I started setting up events.
• I called my mother in law and created a true mother-son relationship (she’s my mom and I’m her son).
• I bonded with my brother in law.
• I spent real, meaningful time with my father in law.

Not because I forced a role…
but because I stopped hiding.

I didn’t earn acceptance.
I allowed myself to be seen.

The shift wasn’t about changing them.
It was about trusting I had a place…as I am.

That changed everything 🫡

What I changed to be a better dad (Girl Dad Version):

Strong, Safe Male Presence
• I became calm, grounded, and emotionally regulated.
• Not passive. Not forceful. Steady.
• Strength, in Stoic terms, is mastery of self.

Regulation Is Leadership
• A father’s nervous system sets the climate of the home.
• Calm leadership creates psychological safety.
• She learned regulation by borrowing mine.

How I Treat Her Mother Matters
• She watches how I speak to my wife.
• How I listen. How I disagree. How I stay respectful under stress.
• That becomes her expectation of men.

How I Treat Other Women Matters
• Respect, boundaries, and dignity aren’t optional.
• She’s learning what is normal…and what is unacceptable.

Teaching Self-Respect by Modeling It
• I showed her what respect looks like before she ever has to demand it.
• A girl raised in safety doesn’t confuse intensity with love.
• She won’t tolerate chaos disguised as passion.

Raising Her Standard for the Future
• One day she’ll have a boyfriend.
• One day she’ll have a husband.
• She will choose calm over volatility.
• Respect over charm.
• Presence over pressure.

A Father’s Role
• Not to harden her.
• Not to control her.
• But to give her a reference point for strength that is steady, kind, and immovable.

The Daily Dad often reminds…
the work is the work on yourself.

And that work echoes far beyond childhood.

What I changed to be a better dad (Boy Dad Version)…and why it worked:

Read With Him
• I didn’t push reading. I shared it. One random day in a beach town, we wandered into an antique bookstore, picked out a book together, then sat on the beach and read. That moment sparked his love for reading. It’s been part of our life ever since. (this picture will always mean something to me, its a core memory)

Strength Without Distance
• I didn’t shy away from being the strong male figure in his life. I embraced it. Strength isn’t emotional absence…it’s leadership with awareness…knowing when to guide and when to sit down and truly listen.

The Power of Male Influence
• I’m intentional about the men he’s around. Loyal, kind, confident, grounded men matter. He needs to see what high dimensional friendship looks like…respect, accountability, humor, boundaries, and support…all existing together.

Model the Behavior
• I stopped trying to explain lessons in the moment and focused on living them daily. Because he’s watching me all the time…the way I speak to the waiter…the way I act in traffic…the way I carry myself when things don’t go my way.

How I Treat His Mother Matters
• The way I speak to my wife is a lesson he absorbs without words. Respect, patience, tone, and accountability will become his default someday…so I make sure my actions are genuine, not performative.

Stoic Balance at Home
• Working alongside my wife, who leads with emotion, taught me balance. Sometimes feelings need space. Sometimes commitment matters more than comfort. We feel deeply…and we follow through. Both are necessary.

Create Safety, Not Fear
• I made it clear he’s allowed to feel without being rushed, fixed, or dismissed. Emotional safety builds trust. Trust builds confidence.

Consistency Beats Intensity
• Small, steady actions repeated daily mattered more than force, lectures, or big moments.

When the root is strong,
growth takes care of itself.

The shift wasn’t about controlling my son.
It was about becoming a man worth watching.

That changed everything…I hope it helps you too 🫡

What I changed to be a better husband…and why it worked:

Ego Check
• I took ego out of it, and made it clear that when I bring up conflict, it’s to strengthen us, not to win.

Intentional Effort
• I did these things because I wanted to…not out of resentment, obligation, or “roles.”

Acceptance on the Hard Days
• I accepted her fully, even on the tired days, the hard days, the days she needed help. After long days at work, I still showed up because her mental health matters to me.

Ownership Over Control
• I stopped trying to control outcomes and focused on what I could actually own…my reactions, my effort, and my consistency.

Pause Before Responding
• I learned to pause before responding. Space between emotion and action changed the direction of a lot of moments.

Clear Expectations
• I owned the expectations I never clearly communicated. A lot of frustration came from assumptions I hadn’t voiced.

Consistency Beats Intensity
• Small, calm actions repeated daily built more connection than emotional highs and lows.

I didn’t do this to keep score.
I did it because I care.
Because I want the best for her.
Because I want the best for my family.

No resentment.
No role-based decisions.
Just results.

The shift wasn’t about fixing my wife.
It was about becoming a steadier, more intentional husband.

That changed everything…i hope it helps you too 🫡

Most people are waiting.
Waiting to feel ready.
Waiting for confidence.
Waiting for the “right time.”

That moment doesn’t come.

Clarity comes after you move…not before.

One step.
One decision.
Forward.

Carlsbad Marathon in the books ✅

PR 💨 2:58:17
BQ 🦄 (3:05:00 qualify time)

Kept it quiet for the last couple months 🤫
The early work outs…
The nutrition plan…
The data tracking…
The proper recovery…
Job. Is. Done. ☑️

4 years later, I finally found the right formula. I would never have gotten here if it wasn’t for the injuries, the races that didn’t go my way, the tired legs, the mismanagement of work/family/fitness. I’m so grateful for all of it. Thank you MOST to my wife, kids, friends/family for ALWAYS having my back and always believing in me!

My takeaways…
☝️ Identifying lactic threshold, and knowing how to increase it properly
☝️ No alcohol
☝️ Active recovery options
☝️ Trusting taper
🚨 And of course…so many times I said “I need to lose weight to get there, I have too broad of shoulders, I need to sacrifice muscle to be “the ideal runner”…well screw that…I’M IN CONTROL OF MY OUTCOME!

For anyone feeling down, feeling hopeless, feeling like they just can’t catch a break, please know…
Plan out your goal
Follow through
Realize you are a BAD MF! You got this s**t, I guarantee it. And if you still don’t believe it, call me, DM me, hit me up. Let’s do this together ❤️
