🍀 St. Patrick’s Day can be fun… until it’s not.
Every year, couples go out expecting a light, carefree night—good food, drinks, maybe a little celebration.
But I can’t tell you how often I hear a different version of the story in my office:
“It started out fun… and then everything blew up.”
Alcohol has a way of lowering our guard—but it also lowers our ability to pause, think clearly, and respond with care. Small frustrations turn into big arguments. Old hurts come rushing back. Things get said that don’t reflect who we really are—or how we truly feel.
And the next morning? Regret. Distance. Disconnection.
Here’s the truth: alcohol doesn’t create relationship problems—it amplifies what’s already there.
So if you’re heading out to celebrate, try going in with intention:
âś” Talk ahead of time about expectations
âś” Set a limit that feels right for both of you
âś” Check in with each other throughout the night
âś” Give yourselves permission to leave early if needed
Protect your relationship more than the party.
And if you’ve found yourselves stuck in this cycle—fun → fight → regret—you’re not alone. It’s more common than you think, and it’s something that can change.
I help couples understand what’s really happening underneath these moments and how to reconnect in a way that feels safe, supportive, and real.
💬 You don’t have to keep repeating the same painful patterns.
