Ever wondered why your tattoo fades in patches during removal?

Different parts of the tattoo may have more or less ink density. Thicker ink takes longer to break down. In addition, blood flow and lymphatic drainage vary across the skin, so some areas flush out ink faster. Plus, the laser targets specific pigment colors and depths, so certain spots respond sooner than others.

Each session builds on the last, and with consistency, those “patches” even out beautifully as the ink continues to clear.

Patience + professional laser technique = smooth, even results over time.

Curious how your tattoo might respond? DM or call 951-540-6524 for a personalized estimate!

Did you know amateur tattoos often clear faster than professional ink. It's because the ink particles are usually less dense and placed more shallowly in the skin.

Every tattoo tells a different story, but with the right laser and technique, progress like this is absolutely possible.

DM or call 951-540-6524 if you’ve been thinking about starting your tattoo removal journey or want to know how many sessions your ink might take!

Post-Treatment Aftercare

The laser does its job in the treatment room but your aftercare is what determines how well you heal and how effectively the ink fades. Here’s how to take care of your skin post-laser:

1. Keep it clean & dry.
Keep the dressing on for 24 hours. Do not get the area wet for 24 hours.

2. Continue to moisturize for the next 7 days
Use a thin layer of a fragrance-free ointment (like Aquaphor or Vaseline) morning and night for the next 7 days to protect the skin barrier.

3. Don’t pick, scratch, or pop.
Scabbing, blistering, and dryness can occur. Let your skin heal naturally. Picking can lead to scarring or pigment changes.

4. Avoid sun exposure for the next 3 days.Keep the area covered for 24 hours and use broad-spectrum SPF when outdoors.

5. No sweaty workouts or swimming.
Avoid intense exercise, pools, hot tubs, or saunas for the next 3 days to reduce the risk of irritation or infection.

6. Wear loose, breathable clothing.
If your tattoo is in a high-friction area, wear soft, loose fabrics to avoid rubbing and pressure.

Healing is a process and your body is working behind the scenes for weeks after each session. Support it with proper care, and you’ll get the best results.

Laser tattoo removal happens layer by layer. Each session targets the black ink first, slowly breaking it down so we can see what other colors might be hiding underneath. And if there’s blue, red, or green ink mixed in, no worries, our PicoWay laser can handle that too.

Every treatment brings you one step closer to clear, confident skin.

Is your tattoo looking blurry or smudged under the skin? That’s likely ink blowout.

A blowout happens when ink is deposited too deep into the skin during tattooing, beyond the dermis and into the fatty layer.

Because that lower layer doesn’t hold ink well, the pigment spreads out in a fuzzy, cloud-like pattern, especially in areas with thinner or more delicate skin.

By targeting and breaking up the pigment, laser treatments can soften or fully remove the blowout over time, helping clean up the edges or even prepare the area for a cover-up down the line.

Ever notice how the shading in your tattoo lightens the quickest after your first laser session? That’s not by chance, it’s science.

Shading is typically made up of less dense pigment and often sits closer to the surface of the skin. This makes it more responsive to laser energy during early treatments.

At your first session, the laser targets the easiest ink first, which is usually the soft blacks, grays, and shaded areas. They break up faster, allowing your immune system to start flushing the ink particles right away.

Don’t mistake this early progress for the full picture. Solid lines and saturated areas take more time. Trust the process. Shading that is fading fast is a sign your removal is on the right track.

Progress Update!

Professional tattoos usually require more sessions to remove than amateur tattoos.

Why?
1. Deeper Ink Placement: Professionals use machines that deposit ink deeper into the dermis.
2. Higher Ink Density: More ink = more particles that need to be broken down and flushed out.
3. Color Complexity: Pro tattoos often use multiple pigments, some of which require more laser treatment sessions.

In contrast, amateur tattoos (often done with non-professional tools) tend to have:
1. Less ink
2. Shallower application
3. Fewer colors

This means they typically fade faster and require fewer sessions to remove.

Every tattoo is unique. During your consultation, we assess ink depth, color, goals, and location to create a custom removal plan for optimal results.

Thinking about removing a tattoo on your finger? Laser tattoo removal targets not just the visible ink but also the ink blowout (that bluish-grey shadow under the skin caused by ink spreading too deep). It does take multiple sessions for complete removal. But each session targets the remaining ink pigment.

As far as how many sessions you will need, that will depend on the age of the tattoo, location, ink colors, layers of ink, as well as your own personal health.

Whether it’s an old tattoo you’ve outgrown or you're prepping for a clean cover-up, we can help.

DM or call 951-540-6524 to book your free consultation today to see if you're a candidate for laser tattoo removal.
