As a teenager I worked at a local amusement park – Kennywood. I started off making fresh squeezed lemonade then moved onto making treats like funnel cakes, giant cookies, cotton candy, and fudge. I would return home after a long day at the park making a measly $3 an hour smelling of funnel cakes or have cotton candy in my hair wondering why do people like this stuff? The thought of fudge makes my teeth hurt. Personally, I’m more of a savory person and dark chocolate fan. What about you? Fudge fan or not? Fun fact fudge used to refer to a “clumsy adjustment” in the 1700’s and in the 1800’s a ‘fudge’ was a hoax or cheat. The thinking is that fudge was created by mistake when a confectioner “fudged up” a batch of caramels resulting in a different kind of treat. Have you ever had a happy accident that led to something awesome?

“Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do…” – Randy Pausch
Life can get overwhelming sometimes no matter what season or age group you’re in.
But there is tremendous power in choosing to focus on what we have versus what we lack.
In the midst of seemingly chaotic, turbulent, and unpredictable times, gratitude might be the furthest thing from our minds.
But actually it’s a superpower. It uplifts not only ourselves but others.
And while it can sometimes seem like gratitude is out of reach — the very last thing on our minds. It can actually be quite simple.
We can be grateful for: A hot shower. A bed to sleep in. A delicious meal. A friend we can count on.
A job (even if it’s not our ideal). The sunrise or sunset. A cool breeze on a hot day. The everyday blessings that enrich our lives in ways we can often overlook.
In this season of Thanksgiving be sure to
take time to count your blessings and let the people you love and care about know how grateful you are for them.
It’s rather simple, but the effects are tremendous
And in doing so it can increase someone’s mood, happiness, and create social connection.
With no downsides
Well… maybe you’ll make too many new friends :)

It’s one of those rare rainy weekends in Temecula.
So today I’m roasting chicken and potatoes seasoned with rosemary from my herb garden (a container garden of herbs in my ‘water wise’ backyard landscape).
I’m also diffusing a lovely blend that features herbs and also a fruit that has been an important part of the region (but in most recent years has given way to grapes).
I like to think of it as a blend to support digestive health, ease nausea (whether from pregnancy, travel sickness, or one too many)
But as I explored this combination it seems these of plants has so much to offer.
I often go with what I know. But what a great reminder that our plant allies can often do so much more than we even realize or ever expect.
Eat plants. Incorporate plants into your life as food, tea, aromatics, and the like. Don’t overthink it.
When you need help seek out herbalists and aromatherapists.
Stay well my friends. And this blend is delightful.
With our busy lives and packed schedules, it’s easy to become consumed by feelings of stress and anxiety.
However, we can break that cycle, and help break it for others!
Something as simple as giving someone a compliment can make their day, and create a ripple effect, making them want to make someone else’s day better.
In addition, it reinforces a positive mindset and strengthens empathy for the compliment giver.
Tag someone you want to compliment, and start a ripple of kindness!

Tamanu oil in the spotlight.
It is an interesting ingredient with many reported benefits for skin, scalp, and hair.
I’ve found it to be a powerful ingredient in aromatherapy, skincare, and haircare.
In aromatherapy I include it in a blend that targets shingles blisters.
In skincare I use it balms to target dry and irritated skin.
And in haircare I use it in a very popular leave in conditioner as well as a scalp oil.
It’s color and viscosity can vary and it can have a dark brown, bluish, or greenish color.
It also has a noticeable aroma (which I love).
This most recent batch lends a gorgeous blue-green tint to our leave in conditioner.
When working with natural ingredients you may have to deal with variations in color, scent, and texture that can occur due to weather, growing region, and the like.
But I am thrilled to incorporate this gorgeous oil into our conditioner and know the beautiful color means beautiful benefits.
Have you ever used or formulated with tamanu oil?

A grateful mind is a great mind.
Practicing gratitude reduces stress, strengthens relationships, and improves overall life satisfaction.
Practicing gratitude improves mindfulness and helps support emotional wellbeing.
I am grateful to share my love of aromatherapy with those I meet both in person and those who follow online.
And I hope that in turn it empowers people to support their health with gratitude for the amazing plants that are used to create essential oils.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this.

Ever wonder what goes into creating a naturally scented body wash that smells as good as it feels?
Here’s a peek behind the scenes of my Uplift Body Wash — a gentle, mood-brightening blend of lavender, lemongrass, and cedarwood essential oils.
Lavender — calming and restorative
Lemongrass — energizing and cleansing
Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) — grounding and harmonizing
Each oil is used thoughtfully and safely within IFRA guidelines — because creating natural products means balancing aroma, efficacy, and safety.
Curious which “cedarwood” I chose or how IFRA limits guide essential oil formulation? Read the full post on my blog: [link in story and blog highlights]
And tell me — what scents instantly lift your mood?

Ok, maybe I’m a few days late… Nov 3rd was National Sandwich Day , but this kind of sandwich isn’t edible—it’s essential.
In Toastmasters, teaching, coaching, and parenting, I’ve learned the power of the feedback sandwich. Start with what’s going well, share what can improve, and close with encouragement. Constructive criticism isn’t a blow—it’s a boost when wrapped in appreciation.
Think of it as a reminder: growth is a lifelong journey, and a little kindness helps us absorb the lessons along the way.
How do you like to give—or receive—feedback? Share your “sandwich” style below! And as always, Aromatic Blessings!
