We close Donate Life Month with Donor Remembrance Day to honor the donor heroes whose gifts will always be remembered.

Here's a few ways we remember Arizona organ donors. Share how you remember your heroes in the comments below or dedicate a forget-me-not flower to them at https://aopo.org/donor-remembrance-day/remember-your-hero/ 🌼

"Our Quality Assurance (QA) team serves as a critical safeguard for donor operations by conducting comprehensive reviews of donor charts to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance. We verify adherence to internal standards, partner requirements, and the multiple regulatory bodies governing our work. In addition, we coordinate the collection and compilation of all required medical records for current admits, along with any additional documentation requested by processor partners to support donor suitability decisions. Beyond review work, QA plays an active role in continuous improvement initiatives across DNA. We collaborate with multiple departments on process improvement efforts and PDSAs, helping drive efficiency, productivity and quality outcomes organization-wide."

Erin "ErBear" called herself an "aspiring superhero" β€” a title that would later prove true.

In 2023, after her passing, her family learned she had registered as an organ and tissue donor β€” a decision that saved the lives of three young girls.

"It was in her nature to help others," her mother shared.

As we celebrate 40 years of saving and healing lives, stories like Erin's remind us what this mission is all about: everyday heroes making an extraordinary impact.

Looking at Gracie Hoskins’ big smile, you would never know she’s had to overcome health hurdles since the day she was born.

"At just a few months old, she coded in my arms. Doctors came in and they saved her. She was listed for a transplant the next day,” says Blessing Hoskins, her mother. Eight days later, Gracie received a lifesaving heart transplant.

Today marks the start of National Pediatric Transplant Week. We celebrate the lives saved, like Gracie's, and continue to fight for the children waiting on their second chance.

Thank you isn't enough. More than 95% of organ and tissue donor registrations come from an Arizona Department of Transportation office.

That's why we raised the flag at Glendale MVD last week and will continue to sport blue and green throughout April. These partners make second chances possible πŸ’š
