It might not look intense.

No jumping. No sprinting. No heavy weights.

But the slower the movement… the harder your body is actually working!!

Slow = hard in Pilates

When you slow things down, you remove momentum.

That means:

-No swinging through reps
-No rushing past the hard part

👉🏼Every second, your muscles are fully engaged.

In faster workouts, muscles get small breaks between reps.

In Pilates ⤵️

You’re holding, controlling, resisting…

Which means:

✅ Muscles stay switched on longer
✅ You feel the burn *quicker*

Joseph Pilates developed early versions of the reformer by attaching springs to hospital beds while working with injured patients.

Many of them couldn’t get down onto the floor to perform mat exercises.

So he created a system that allowed them to:
• move while lying down
• build strength safely
• improve mobility with support

Sure, the springs added resistance - but also assistance.

Which is why the reformer is so effective for:
• injury rehabilitation
• beginners
• people with limited mobility

The springs can make exercises easier or harder, depending on how they’re used.

So while reformer Pilates can definitely feel challenging…

Its original purpose was to help people move when traditional mat work wasn’t possible.

And that’s kind of the beauty of it 💫

Your brain literally changes when you move ⤵️

When you exercise, your body releases chemicals like endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin.

These are your “feel good” hormones.

• reduce stress

Movement reduces stress in the body💫

When you’re stressed, your body holds onto it physically.

Tight shoulders.
Shallow breathing.

Pilates, in particular, focuses on breath and controlled movement - which helps regulate your nervous system and bring your body back to a calmer state.
