This has to change! PBMs MUST be regulated!

Every time I see a post like this, it hits hard—and it’s becoming all too common. Independent pharmacies are often the heart of their communities, run by people who care deeply about their patients and go above and beyond every single day. But the truth is, even the best-run pharmacies are being pushed out—not because they aren’t doing good work, but because the system is rigged against them.

Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) have created a stranglehold on reimbursement, demanding compliance while paying independent pharmacies less than the cost of medications. It’s an unsustainable model where doing more for your patients—filling more prescriptions, expanding services—can actually cost you money. That’s not just backwards. It’s destructive.

Falcon Pharmacy’s story is heartbreaking, but it’s not unique. This is happening across the country. Independent pharmacies are being gutted while PBMs rake in billions. Patients lose access, communities lose trusted care, and pharmacists are left emotionally and financially drained.

To Kevin and April Wood—thank you for fighting as long as you did. Your legacy and care won’t be forgotten. And to every independent pharmacist still in the fight: you deserve a system that respects your role and rewards your work. We have to keep telling these stories. We have to demand transparency and reform.

Enough is enough.
