Many people often speak about “GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE” as if being chosen by God always means favor, blessing, and righteousness. But when you read the Bible carefully and think about it logically, the scriptures reveal something deeper.
Just because someone is among “GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE” does not always mean they were chosen for good. Sometimes people are raised up so that God’s power, justice, and judgment can be revealed.
One of the clearest examples in scripture is Pharaoh.
Romans 9:17 (KJV)
“For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.”
Pharaoh was raised to power, but his downfall revealed God’s authority when Egypt was judged and Pharaoh’s army was destroyed in the Red Sea.
The Bible also teaches that even the wicked can exist within God’s larger plan.
Proverbs 16:4 (KJV)
“The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.”
Scripture also describes hostile powers as instruments used within God’s sovereignty:
Psalm 17:13 (KJV)
“Deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword.”
Isaiah 10:5 (KJV)
“O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.”
The Book of Revelation also warns about people who claim a spiritual identity falsely.
Revelation 2:9 (KJV)
“I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.”
Revelation 3:9 (KJV)
“Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie…”
The Bible also speaks about the meaning of being a Jew outwardly and inwardly.
Romans 2:28–29 (KJV)
“For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit…”
When the scripture says “outwardly” or “in the flesh,” it can simply refer to outward presentation of the flesh, where people decorate themselves with fleshly decorations such as religious clothing, hats, or traditional garments to appear part of a religious identity.
This means both things must be understood:
The outward appearance
The heart and spirit before God
Key point to think about
The phrase “GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE” does not automatically mean chosen for favor.
Sometimes individuals or groups appear in history so that:
God’s power can be revealed
False claims can be exposed
Judgment can be demonstrated
Truth can be made clear
Final thought
So the phrase “GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE” should make people think carefully.
Being chosen by God can mean blessing — but it can also mean becoming an example through which God reveals His power, justice, and wrath.
So be careful of those who quickly claim to be among “GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE,” because in scripture being chosen does not always mean chosen for favor. Sometimes God raises someone up just to make an example out of them so others will see the consequence and not follow the same path.
