Exciting update from this weekend! Mami had fantastic progress. Saturday, she was able to join us in the waiting room for a little change of scenery, which made her day and was exactly what she needed. Sunday, the doctors started giving their clearance for Mom to leave the hospital as her recovery was progressing so remarkably well. Doctors are impressed with all her results, from kidney checks to acing the "Walk of Life" by Physical Therapy WITHOUT any oxygen. They are talking possibly today or tomorrow, removing the final chest tube, granting her some freedom (well, almost!). 😂 I’m so proud of all the work she has put in and al that’s she’s accomplished and none of that would’ve been possible without all of your support!!!!

Six days after the surgery, Mom is defying all expectations. She's almost off all medical equipment, taking each step with determination, and walking further every single day. But what's truly remarkable is her unwavering positivity and mental strength throughout this journey. Her resilience is awe-inspiring. We're grateful for every milestone and your unwavering support. Keep those positive thoughts coming! 💪❤️

Good morning everyone!!

Looks like we might finally be able to move Mami out of the ICU. PT has her up and walking, all of her test and stats are looking good and they feel like she could be ready to move. They're still carefully looking to see if there will be any issues but are optimistic. Fingers crossed!!

4 days post operation and the doctors are thinking Mom might be able to leave the ICU. They’ve never seen someone recover so quickly. This entire experience has been the definition of a miracle ❤️❤️❤️

Hello everyone,

My mom, Josie, is a true hero. She's been battling COPD for years now, and it's been an incredibly tough road for our family. With constant doctors visits to San Antonio and now Dad being put on disability through Veteran's Affairs. But now, we're facing one of the toughest trials of their lives.

Mom has been given the opportunity for a double lung transplant, and it's our best chance at giving her the gift of breathing easy again. The catch is that the nearest transplant hospital is three hours away in San Antonio, Texas. This means frequent trips for evaluations, tests, labs, rehabilitation once she's finally recovered from her surgery.
