Veterans have a special place in my heart. So, working with this man was an honor. I saw a belt of ammo around his heart and told him it is time to let that go. He told me that made sense because he knows the specific number of people he’s killed in war.
Shame haunts him and he asks ‘who gave me the permission to do that’ on the daily. He has PTSD and carries a heaviness of responsibility - which, in my opinion, is why he has physical back pain. (Scans and MRI’s have shown nothing).
After the session he said “This - and pointed to his smile- doesn’t happen very much, so thank you.” He felt so much lighter and calmer as he left and told me he may not have to pick up the pipe tonight. 🤣
Sessions like this make my day!
