VCSC Coordinated Health Program

VCSC Coordinated Health Program Hello and welcome to the Coordinated Health Program for VCSC! The WSCC model has 10 components:
Physical education and physical activity. Health education.

We are using the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Model. The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child, or WSCC model, is CDC’s framework for addressing health in schools. The WSCC model is student-centered and emphasizes the role of the community in supporting the school, the connections between health and academic achievement and the importance of evidence-based school policies and practices. Nutrition environment and services. Social and emotional climate. Physical environment. Health services. Counseling, psychological and social services. Employee wellness. Community involvement. Family engagement.

It's National Public Health Week, and it’s about more than healthcare — it’s about creating environments where healthy choices, active lifestyles, and strong communities can thrive.

Through the Coordinated Health Program, we’re helping students build lifelong habits through movement, education, and meaningful connections that support their overall well-being. From afterschool activity clubs to opportunities that bring more movement into students’ daily lives, we are working to create healthier futures — but we can’t do it alone.

Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community for our kids!

Thank you so much, Duke Energy, for your generous support of the Weekend Meal Program!

A huge thank you to Duke Energy for their support of our Weekend Meal Program 💙

With their help, students in Vigo County who face food insecurity can take home meals and snacks over the weekend—giving them the fuel they need to focus, learn, and thrive at school. Programs like this make a real difference for families across our community.

We’re so grateful to Duke Energy for partnering with us to help ensure every child has access to nutritious food.

Spring Break is right around the corner — and we have some exciting news! 🌷

We recently wrapped up another Safe Sitter® class, and our newest group of middle school students is now officially certified and ready to babysit safely and confidently in our community. These students learned essential skills including child safety, basic care, emergency response, and how to be responsible caregivers.

A big thank you to Dr. Madison Schmidt, who served as the instructor and helped prepare these students with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.

📅 Interested in the next class? Our next Safe Sitter session will be held June 6th, with sign-ups opening in May. Stay tuned for registration details — spots fill quickly!

Congratulations to our new Safe Sitters, and thank you for helping keep our community’s children safe!

March is National Nutrition Month, and we’re celebrating the power of nutrition education! 🥕✨

Our tailored lessons are making a difference in the classroom, and the feedback from participating 4th and 5th grade teachers says it all:

⭐ 100% would definitely recommend these lessons for other classrooms and students
⭐ 100% believe their students will do their best to use what they’ve learned in the future

We’re proud to support students with practical, engaging nutrition education that helps build a foundation for lifelong healthy habits.

To help us continue bringing these programs to more educators and students, support our Coordinated Health Program Annual Pickleball Tournament!
