VCSC Coordinated Health Program

VCSC Coordinated Health Program Hello and welcome to the Vigo County School Corporation (VCSC) Coordinated Health Program! Nutrition environment and services. Health education. Health services.

We are using the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Model. The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child, or WSCC model, is CDC’s framework for addressing health in schools. The WSCC model is student-centered and emphasizes the role of the community in supporting the school, the connections between health and academic achievement and the importance of evidence-based school policies and practices. The WSCC model has 10 components:
Physical education and physical activity. Social and emotional climate. Physical environment. Counseling, psychological and social services. Employee wellness. Community involvement. Family engagement.

The collaboration, trust, and shared commitment from our community partners made a meaningful impact and allowed us to better serve the children and families that rely on our programs. We are excited to build on this momentum and look ahead to 2026 with optimism, growth,

Oh what fun it is to eat
Five food groups every day—hey!

There is so much that the Coordinated Health Program’s Team is thankful this year.

Because of the incredible generosity of this community, 245 families will be able to sit around a table together and share a full holiday meal. We raised over $9,000 in just one week, a true testament to the heart of the Wabash Valley.

The Coordinated Health Program’s mission is to support children and their families so our community can be healthier, stronger, and more connected. Food security is a core priority for us, and sadly, far too many of our neighbors are facing hunger this year.

But this project reminded us of something powerful: when our community comes together, we can meet those needs with compassion and hope. 🧡🧡🧡🧡

This effort took a village and what a village it is. We are overflowing with gratitude for everyone who helped bring this initiative to life:

🦃 100 generous donors and a special shout-out to Common Ground Yoga for matching donations from their clients.

🦃Baesler's Market, our incredible partner, for curating robust meal boxes at such a low cost that we could stretch our dollars even further. They also opened their facilities for packing and provided transportation for delivery.

🦃Manna from Seven provided their massive box truck and time to deliver the meals in one efficent, drop off route.

🦃Our amazing box-stuffing volunteers, who gave up their Sunday afternoon to prepare the boxes with so much care.

🦃Union Health Foundation, for providing a secure, seamless donation platform and managing funds to ensure every dollar made an impact.

Thank you, Wabash Valley.

Your generosity filled tables and hearts this Thanksgiving. 🧡

Thank you, Common Ground Crossfit and Common Ground Yoga for your support!!

Common Ground Yoga will be donating all late fees for October and November to this effort to help families in need enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday without the stress of food insecurity. We’d love to make a larger impact so we’ve decided to match member donations! If you have the means to donate please do so following the link below and add your name to the list at the studio located at the front desk.

It is in giving that we receive, and in our understanding that we are all deeply connected that we do what’s necessary to help our brother and sisters in need of support❤️
