As we observe Black History Month, the Terre Haute Fire Department honors three Black firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This month, we remember not only how they died, but how they lived, through their service, leadership, and commitment to this community. Throughout the month of February, we will recognize each individual, honor their lasting legacy, and reflect on their service to Terre Haute.

Today, the District Finals for the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Shooting Contest was held. Gibault had 4 qualifiers participating. One of our kiddos (far left) qualified for Regionals next weekend. Below is a picture of the Knights and the medaling participants. The fifth kiddo in the picture, in the middle, was from Saint Patrick School.
Daryl McCleary, George Knezevich (center) and Al Perone were the K of C members in the picture. It should be noted, there was another kiddo that medaled, from Ryves Hall, who had to leave before the medal presentation.
Special thanks to the K of C, volunteers and Gibault staff who helped with the event.

Tonight, our Holy Cross Knights basketball team lost a close one, in Indianapolis, to Resource Treatment Center, by a score of 36-44. Great sportsmanship by both teams. 👏😊❤️🏀

I signed a proclamation declaring today Eva Education Day in Indiana.

Today marks the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, where Eva Kor survived unimaginable cruelty.

When she moved to Indiana, where she lived for nearly six decades, she devoted her life to teaching forgiveness, empathy, and human dignity.

Special shout out to our amazing staff who made it to work this past weekend and that are here today. To protect them from the bitter cold and icy conditions, the kiddos/staff are safe and warm, and having school and meals in the units. Our maintenance guys worked tireless hours to keep sidewalks, parking lots and roads cleared of snow.
All that being said, campus sure is beautiful.
