Sharing some exciting news from Prism Community Services, formerly known as Prism Counseling & Community Services.

They will be at Spring Fest on Saturday, April 4th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Fort Rucker Festival Fields. If you are out there with your family, make sure to stop by their booth. They will be hosting their “Grow With Me: Planting Seeds of Strength” activity for kids, along with some fun swag for parents.

We love seeing the continued work being done to support military families and the community as a whole. If you are able, go show them some support.

🌱 Healing from trauma isn’t a straight line 🌱

Unique opportunity for Counselors and service providers to the LGBTQ+ community to network with others to identify opportunities for cooperative ventures, the sharing of information, and service support.

Participants in the Services Fair will be limited to direct service providers in the fields of health care, housing, social services, therapeutic services, counseling, etc., for LGBTQ+ persons in Alabama.

Workshop attendees will be counselors and related professionals vetted to work with and support the LGBTQ+ community. ALSAIGE is a professional organization with the goal of protecting “from harm LGBTQ+ individuals by language, stereotypes, myths, misinformation, threats...and from beliefs contrary to their identity”. ALSAIGE is part of the Alabama Counseling Association. The Workshop is available in both In-Person and Virtual formats. Click "Get Tickets" to view your options.

There will be four presenters for the Workshop, and each presentation will be 1.5 hours long for a total of 6 hours of Continuing Education in Counseling practice and Ethics. All presentations will include ethics. CEs will be provided by the Counseling Clinic.

Attendees can attend in person at AUM or virtually

There is no fee to participate as a Provider at the Fair; however, pre-registration is required on or before Friday, September 19, 2025. All applicants will be vetted to ensure compliance with the event's purpose. Submission of an application does not ensure acceptance/approval of inclusion in the Services Fair.

A single six-foot table and two folding chairs will be provided per registered provider. The exhibit space will be inside Goodwyn Hall. No tents will be necessary.

Setting boundaries during the holidays is perfectly acceptable and important for your well-being. While family and friends often mean well, their actions can sometimes feel intrusive. Remember, it’s okay to prioritize yourself and establish healthy boundaries.

Men’s mental health is a critical issue that often goes unspoken, but it affects families, workplaces, and communities every day. Many men face stigma around mental health, leading them to struggle in silence. Addressing men’s mental health is essential for building stronger support networks, promoting emotional well-being, and preventing mental health crises. Let’s break the stigma together by encouraging open conversations, providing support, and reminding the men in our lives that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
