As we gather to celebrate gratitude, we are especially thankful for the people who make Westminster Village feel like home. Payton and the entire dining team exemplify dedication, heart, and hospitality every single day. Especially during the holidays.

While many spend this day around their own family tables, these remarkable individuals choose to spend their holiday serving our residents first, placing the needs of our community above their own. Their selflessness, warmth, and unwavering commitment allow our residents to enjoy a joyful, delicious, and truly meaningful Thanksgiving.

To Payton and the Dining Services team: we are deeply grateful for you. Your service is a gift, your hearts are felt in every meal, and our community is better because of you.

🦃🍹 The Great Gratitude Guzzle Was a Gobblin’ Good Time! 🍹🦃

Our November Westminster Village Happy Hour was a smash hit, with over 70 residents and guests joining us for an evening of laughter, trivia, and Thanksgiving-themed fun at our Great Gratitude Guzzle!

The room was filled with beautiful fall décor, festive energy, and even a special appearance from the one and only Tom Turkey! Our proud, noble bird was officially pardoned by our Director of Community Life, Lauren Kelsheimer, six years ago. Tom continues to reign as the steadfast, feathered symbol of our community spirit. (LONG LIVE TOM!)

Guests enjoyed a Thanksgiving-inspired round of trivia, complete with a tiny turkey trophy for the winning team and gobble-worthy bragging rights included.

A huge shout-out to Payton Arney, Director of Dining Services, and Executive Chef Kris Kraut and his team for an unforgettable spread. Their menu of sausage-stuffed mushrooms, buffalo chicken dip with homemade pita chips, and cranberry-orange chocolate chip cookies had everyone going back for seconds (and maybe thirds… no judgment here!). Our signature drink — a perfectly pear-fect fall cocktail — kept the vibes cheerful and toasts flowing.

We wrapped up the evening with big smiles, full plates, and the joy of enjoying Lidia’s trivia one last time before 2026.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this silly, spirited, gratitude-filled gathering. We’re already excited for the next one!

💪🎁 Planksgiving Success! 🎁💪

Our community came together once again for our annual Planksgiving Challenge, where residents and team members bravely “plank through the pain” to help bring joy to children in our area through Marine Toys for Tots Foundation!

This year, our goal was to collect 50 toys, and thanks to the generosity of our residents, families, and team, we nearly doubled it with over 95 toys donated! Each toy represented 45 seconds of planking, and our participants took on anywhere from 5 to 15 rounds with determination, laughter, and plenty of shaky arms. The “torture” was real… but the impact was even more rewarding.

A huge thank-you to Michael Sweitzer, our NIFS Fitness Manager, for leading this fun and meaningful event. We also want to thank every team member who participated or donated. In the midst of busy schedules, coming together for our community is what truly makes this place special.

We’re already excited for next year — bigger planks, bigger laughs, and even bigger generosity!

If you’d like to continue donating, our Toys for Tots bins are available Monday–Friday from 8:30–5:00 right next to the front desk.

NOVEMBER BIRTHDAY PARTY! 🥳

This month, we came together to honor all our November birthdays, and what a celebration it was! Residents enjoyed a beautiful fall-inspired, Thanksgiving-themed cake crafted by the talented bakers at Baesler's Market. And, it was every bit as delicious as it looked.

A heartfelt thank you to Brittany from Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of the Wabash Valley for providing the no-sugar-added ice cream options and toppings. Your thoughtfulness ensures that everyone can take part in the celebration, and we are truly grateful.

And finally, a very special shout-out to out resident, Pat Engelland, who joined us for the festivities. Pat will be turning 100 years old this weekend! This is an extraordinary milestone! Pat’s warmth, grace, and unwavering spirit inspire all of us. Reaching 100 is not just a celebration of years, but of memories made, challenges overcome, friendships formed, and the incredible legacy she continues to build each day. We are honored to celebrate this moment with her.

Here’s to our November birthdays, to community, and to celebrating the remarkable people who make our residence such a wonderful place to call home.

Westminster Village Health Center Thanksgiving Luncheon

This week, we welcomed over 100 guests and residents to our Thanksgiving Luncheon. This luncheon was a wonderful reflection of the families who deeply care for their loved ones and the strong sense of community we share at Westminster Village.

A heartfelt thank you to our Dining Services Team, Payton Arney, Director of Dining Services, Executive Chef Kris Kraut, and our incredible cooking staff for preparing a delicious holiday meal and coordinating a beautiful event.

We are equally grateful to our Health Center Activities Coordinator, Assisted Living Activities Coordinator, and our Community Life Assistant for the festive décor, warm ambience, and music that made the day so special.

Our appreciation extends to the Health Center Admin Team and everyone who helped—whether passing food, assisting residents, filling drinks, or offering companionship. Your kindness and teamwork ensured every resident felt cared for and included.

A special thank you to Independent Living resident Sylvia Hansen for sharing her gift of piano music. She brings so much joy to our community, and her performance made the luncheon truly memorable.

At Westminster Village, gratitude guides everything we do. We are committed to providing meaningful, elevated experiences that allow residents and families to create cherished memories together.

We are thrilled to honor Brenden Lane, a shining star among our Westminster Village Servers! Brenden’s warm smile, kindness, and willingness to help make him a true friend to all residents and team members alike. His positive spirit brightens every day, and we are so grateful for all he does!

To celebrate Brenden, we’re treating him to a special treat box from Frosted by Maddie—because who doesn’t love her amazing goodies? From delicious Elf treat boxes to other sweet delights, Maddie’s creations are as kind and thoughtful as Brenden himself!
