Falling once doubles your chances of falling again.
Falls are not a normal part of aging — they are preventable.
Each year, 1 in 4 older adults experiences a fall, leading to serious injuries and loss of independence. But the good news is: you can take steps to stay safe and steady.
Here’s how you can take steps to prevent falls:
✅ Stay active to improve strength and balance
✅ Get your vision and hearing checked regularly
✅ Review your medications with a healthcare provider
✅ Make your home safer — remove tripping hazards, install grab bars, improve lighting

Residents had such a fun autumn morning celebrating the season while learning about these strategies- making customized fall scented lotions, having a go at the straw maze, then shucking and shelling some corn!

With these things in mind, we’re determined to “leave the falling to the trees” this autumn 🍂

Hope you’re not tired of seeing outdoorsy themed photos because we need to put a special spotlight on our ~award winning~ Senior Health and Wellness Day event from May! 🏆🎉

Our Director of Rehabilitation, Addisson Pearison, and her team did such an amazing job imagining the camp-themed day which made helping them execute it too easy! The event would not have been complete without another impressive balloon art installation by MDS Coordinator, Laurie Arbuckle!

This day was a testament to how the adventure doesn’t stop as we age, and we are so grateful to be able to help you continue yours!

Today, one of our amazing community members reminded us what kindness looks like in action.

Mike, a resident with a heart as big as this town, spent the day delivering lunches to the brave firefighters and EMTs of Terre Haute — just to say thank you for all they do.

No fanfare. No spotlight. Just one person spreading appreciation and a few good meals to the heroes who are always first on the scene when we need them most.

In a world that sometimes feels too busy to stop and say thanks, Mike showed us that it only takes one person to make a big difference.

Let’s all take a page from their book today. 💛
