Want to know the easiest way to improve your quality of life?
→ Grab lunch with a friend.
Studies show that meaningful time with others dramatically improves mental health, strengthens immunity, and even helps you live longer.
The food could be awful,
but your company made it enjoyable.
This is exactly what we were talking about over lunch today (the food was great, by the way) is that those who socialize are scientifically proven to live longer than those who spend the majority of their time alone.
It brings meaning.
It brings purpose.
It brings value.
But it goes beyond just spending time with people…
You can be surrounded by people at work, at home, even in your neighborhood, and still feel completely alone.
Sharing a meal does something significant to both people. Eating is a surprisingly vulnerable act. We let our guard down. We’re not performing, we’re just… being human.
And that’s where real connection begins.
When we eat with someone else, it harbors:
Connection
Protection
Trust
Call it tribal.
Call it communal.
But nothing strengthens the bond between two people like a great conversation over an appetizing meal.
My man Jeff and I have shared several lunches together, and every time, not only do I walk away with an insight, a story I can use, or a full stomach…
I leave with a stronger friendship.
The tea glass on the table is left empty.
But my cup is full.
So go ahead and text that friend to schedule lunch or coffee this week. The foods optional, but the friendships a MUST.
BONUS TIP: Don’t forget to take a selfie. Pictures together strengthen a bond almost as much as the meal itself.
