We teach people how to treat us…

in what we say and what we don’t say. If you don’t say, they learn what you’ll put up with. Not saying something allows them to assume what you want or project what they want. However, if you share more of what you like, enjoy, prefer or need helps others best match your request. They know what matters because you have said it. Saying it once is not teaching anyone. New concepts often need repetition or need to be repeated/clarified to help the other person Learn. Remember that you’re teaching and not demanding, manipulating, or aggressively insisting on your way, but you are making it clearer how you want to be treated and showing what helps you feel seen.
