Welcome to March! Be honest… how many of your New Year’s resolutions quietly disappeared because they became too much?

If your “growth” goals turned into pressure, guilt, or burnout, you’re not failing. You may have just been chasing growth the exhausting way.

In my newest blog, Grow Without the Grind, we’re talking about how to pursue personal growth without toxic productivity, so you can stay ambitious without feeling chronically behind.

You don’t have to optimize every hour of your life to become better. Sustainable growth feels steady, not frantic.

What are green flags in communication?

They are not about perfection. They are about emotional safety. A partner who asks what you need, reflects your feelings, and does not rush to fix every emotion is helping build strong communication patterns in relationships.

These patterns increase trust, resilience, and long term connection.

If you are working on strengthening communication in your relationship, therapy can provide practical tools to help you get there. Reach out to me today to learn more.

Ever notice how fast your brain goes into “deploy solutions” mode when your partner says they had a bad day?

You are halfway to reorganizing the calendar, drafting emails, and creating a five step improvement plan before they even finish the story.

Sometimes growth looks like resisting the urge to solve it and instead say, “That sounds really frustrating.”

Healthy communication patterns in relationships are built on emotional safety, not emergency response mode.

Just remember, empathy first and solutions second.

Ever notice how quickly we jump into solution mode when someone we love is stressed?

Sometimes what strengthens relationships most is not fixing the problem. It is listening to the feeling behind it.

In this week’s blog, I break down how communication patterns in relationships shift when we lead with empathy instead of advice, why emotional safety matters more than efficiency, and how a simple question like “Do you want me to listen or brainstorm?” can change everything.

If you have ever felt unheard or unappreciated in conversations, this one is for you.

Somewhere along the way, we confused productivity with worth.

If your self-esteem rises and falls with your to-do list, you’re not broken. You have been conditioned.

You are allowed to exist without performing.

Ever notice how your mood improves when you “get a lot done”… and drops when you don’t?

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned to tie our self-worth to productivity. Gold stars turned into performance reviews. Hustle culture became our inner voice. Rest started to feel suspicious.

In my newest blog, I talk about:
• Why self-worth and productivity get tangled together
• How burnout reinforces the shame loop
• And how to gently unlearn the belief that your value depends on your output

You are more than your to-do list.

Happy President’s Day.

Today is a reminder that leadership is not just something we see in history books. It shows up in everyday moments.

Leadership can look like:
• Regulating your emotions before responding
• Taking responsibility for your part
• Having hard conversations with care
• Setting healthy boundaries

Whether at home, at work, or in your relationships, the way we lead ourselves matters.

Wishing you a restful and meaningful long weekend!

Unmet expectations on Valentine’s Day rarely start with bad intentions. They usually start with silence. We assume. We hope. We wait. And then we feel disappointed when our partner did not read our mind.

If this weekend matters to you, say so.
If you are unsure what your partner is hoping for, ask.

Clear is romantic. Assumptions are not.

Valentine’s Day is supposed to feel romantic.
But for many couples, it quietly brings unmet expectations, disappointment, and a lot of unspoken feelings.

If this weekend feels heavier than expected, you are not alone and it does not mean your relationship is broken.

My latest blog explores why unmet expectations on Valentine’s Day are so common and how couples can talk about disappointment without turning it into conflict. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is name what did not go as planned and reconnect anyway.

Little reminders can go a long way.

Sometimes your nervous system does not need a lecture. It needs something soft, simple, and kind.

If your mind is racing or your body feels tense, try reading one slowly and letting your breath catch up.

Save this for later or share it with someone who could use a little calm today.

About Dr. Morel

It can be so overwhelming and scary to struggle and not know where to turn next... but in the words of Brene Brown, “We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.” This sums up what I've learned my years of experience. In therapy with me, I aspire to help support you through life's challenges, achieve your personal goals, grow in self-awareness, connect with important emotions, explore foundational experiences, nurture healthy relationships, and finally, build resilience for the future. You can do this and I can help.

I've spent the last decade training in the latest psychological assessment and therapeutic techniques, preparing me to serve effectively in my roles. In 2019, I graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Purdue University (an APA Accredited Program). I specialize in mood/personality disorders, trauma recovery, relationship issues, identity development, career concerns, and psychological assessment. I think it's helpful to consider your unique history (e.g., familial, social, or institutional systems that influence you) to help us make sense of what’s going now and how we can work together to address it. I truly believe that each person is doing the best they can at any given moment with the resources and tools they have. Let's work together to explore and integrate your many strengths as you gain new insights and tools to make productive steps forward.

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas (License #38550). Additionally, I am credentialed as a National Register Health Service Psychologist. I’ve been providing therapy and assessment services since 2013, and have been serving clients in Texas since July 2018. Feel free to read the About Me page of my website to learn more about my training, background, and experiences.

I have an office in The Woodlands, Texas where I provide in-person care. I am also able to provide psychotherapy via tele-health in the following states through PSYPACT jurisdiction: Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Virginia (approved state list updated as of Jan 2021).
