Gratitude isn’t just a holiday tradition—it’s a powerful mental health tool.
Research shows that intentionally practicing gratitude can:
✨ Improve mood
✨ Reduce stress and anxiety
✨ Strengthen relationships
✨ Increase overall resilience
✨ Support better sleep and emotional regulation
According to Harvard Health, gratitude helps people experience more positive emotions, enjoy good experiences, and cope better with adversity.
The American Psychological Association (APA) notes that gratitude practices can lower depressive symptoms and increase feelings of connection and well-being.
And studies published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) show that gratitude activates brain regions tied to emotional balance and stress reduction.
This Thanksgiving, we encourage you to slow down and reflect on the people, moments, and strengths that carry you through the year. Gratitude doesn’t erase hardship—but it can make healing feel more possible.
🍂 From all of us at the Magnuson Mazzoni Center, we wish you a peaceful and restorative Thanksgiving.
You matter. Your healing matters.
