Has your child been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes? If so, managing their blood sugar and following a healthy lifestyle are key to managing this chronic condition. We recommend checking out this guide for tips on how to manage your child's glucose levels. ๐Ÿ‘‡

"Glucose will build up in the blood if it cannot be used by the cells. High blood glucose levels can damage many parts of the body, such as the eyes, kidneys, nerves and heart.

Your child's blood glucose levels may need to be checked on a regular schedule to make sure the levels do not get too high. Your child's doctor will tell you what your child's blood glucose level should be.

You and your child will need to learn how to use a glucose meter. Blood glucose levels can be quickly and easily measured using a glucose meter. First, a lancet is used to prick the skin; then a drop of blood from your child's finger is placed on a test strip that is inserted into the meter."

โ€‹Children with type 2 diabetes can live a healthy life. If your child has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, your child's doctor will talk with you about the importance of lifestyle and medication in keeping your child's blood glucose (blood sugar) levels under control.

Food allergies occur when the body reacts against harmless proteins found in foods, and can be common in children and teens. Here's a helpful guide on signs of food allergies to look out for, how to manage food allergies, and how to lower the risk of developing one. ๐Ÿฅœ

"Starting around 6 months, parents can help lower the risk of food allergies by offering common allergens like peanuts, eggs, dairy and sesame. Delaying the introduction of these foods may actually raise the risk. Begin with small amounts, one food at a time, and watch for reactions. If your baby has eczema or a family history of allergies, check with your pediatrician first. Safe, early exposure can make a big difference."

A food allergy happens when the body reacts against harmless proteins found in foods. Food allergies are most common in babies and children, but they can occur at any age. They also occur more often in children who have other allergies or who have family members with allergies. Learn more here.โ€‹
