⚡ Can You Prevent Acute Pain from Becoming Chronic? ⚡
Pain happens to all of us—whether from an injury, illness, or conditions like arthritis or diabetes. But when does pain become chronic, and what can you do to prevent it?
Acute vs. Chronic Pain
Acute pain: Short-term pain from injury or illness, usually lasting days or weeks.
Chronic pain: Pain that lasts 12 weeks or more, even after healing. Left untreated, acute pain can turn chronic.
How to Stop Pain from Lingering
1. Address it early. Don’t “wait it out.” Pain that doesn’t improve in 2–3 weeks should be checked.
2. Rest and recover. Taking time off reduces stress, calms your nervous system, and lets your body heal.
3. Find the root cause. A chiropractor can help identify what’s really causing your pain—whether it’s an injury or a developing condition.
4. Stay aligned. Regular chiropractic visits can help prevent pain from starting or returning.
